Cautiously optimistic, but what the hell, this past weekend has me doing keg-stands of Red Kool-Aid.
  • BU overdoes it on Johnny Cash so Mal steps up with a renewed confidence.
  • Foster gives them interior fits and Chase finally starts getting some mild respect calls, resulting in Wardle's grumpy ass getting T'd up over frustration on his crash-the-paint Band-aid defense.
  • Braves just keep coming back, though, as things continue to get chippy and it turns into a free-throw shooting contest.
  • Goes down to the wire, where Kusubke lunges for an inbounds pass, Kinziger dives for the loose ball, feeds a baseball pass to Lewis for the two hand dunk to ice it after a few more FTs: 81-74.

Keep Spreading' the Red!

I hope for a great contest and fingers crossed that our D will respond to backdoor cuts from 1st contest. BU is very good as their athleticism seems superior especially the 2 bigs with their length.

I do expect we'll see the grit and fight from our guys so here's to hoping we can pull off something special in Peoria.

One of the biggest changes in the Birds game since the last time these teams matched up is defense. ISU has gone to playing more match up zone, which in theory, should eliminate getting beat on back cuts. However, it’s a dangerous game to play if you plan on zoning with Deen out there. The kid made 9 threes on Wednesday night. If they are going to throw the zone out there, it better be fully extended so that any 3 ball is from 25+ feet.

In a season where we have come to expect the unexpected why not win at Bradley!!

Hopefully the Birds have a better defensive game plan in round 2 and it may be a possibility. We cant afford to get caught in mismatches or flat out losing players for wide open layups. Our new look zone has been effective recently; however, the Valley schools now seen the match-up zone and I expect the good teams to start making offensive adjustments. Our coaches need to do their homework for this contest in order to put the team in a position to win and compete.

I would much rather force them to beat us with threes then watch dunkfest we saw in Normal.

Is there a form of matchup zone that basically says “man up this one guy and Zone everyone else”?

Everyone who follows IHSA football is probably well aware of Rochester’s football success since 2010 (9 State Championships) But as good as the Football program has been, the Rockets Basketball program has been just the opposite. Rochester has not won a Regional Championship since 2001 (and that was 1A). Earlier in the season Glenwood beat Rochester 60-24. Last night Rochester traveled to Glenwood to play for the 4A Regional Championship. Final: Rochester 38 Glenwood 34. My Point? Doesn’t matter what Bradley did to our Redbirds earlier in the season, or that tonight’s game is in Peoria. Go you Redbirds!!

I think Jordan Davis could help us out defensively this
Exactly 45 years ago today!!
Halftime:
#6 Duke - 7
#4 UNC - 0
Hah! I witnessed the longest NCAA game in history BU vs Cincinnati back in 1981 home for Christmas Break- 7 OTs before the shot clock- it was one possession per OT, whoever got the jump held it for one shot
