We probably only have 5-6 max more wins in us this season. Pedon HAS to hire a recruiter, we are going nowhere with the level of kids we have and are presently going after.

Live by the sword….missed our first 11 threes With no inside game if we don’t shoot it well we can’t win. Really disappointed in this game. 17 points at half was disgusting.

Unfortunately this is redbird basketball. About 250-285 best program in the nation? Not what or where we thought we would be back in the 1980’s glory days. We can blame the portal, previous coach, etc., etc., but this is where we are and how do we move at least a little bit forward? Maybe we get back to where we were a few games ago, but I am not sure.
I also think as fans/boosters we need to not complain about the “quality” of our schedule. ISU needs to win at this level before we ever even dream of “moving up”. Really brutal to watch that first half. Really disappointed after tonight.

Our margin for error will be small throughout the conference season. We are not very quick and not super physical. That being said we will win some games unexpectedly and I expect some poor losses too. Long term we need to upgrade our talent to win more consistently. Two things that would definitely help in the short run

1. less turnovers and
2. Desperation shots with less than 5 seconds (hidden turnovers)

These empty possessions really make us an inefficient offensive team.

Yes isu doesn’t need to be concentrating on recruiting the HOI conf. Aim higher

Missed the game, cuz I was spending it with my 3-yr old granddaughter . . . I think--based on the comments--I won.

As of today, our NET ranking was 241.

Our wins are versus Southern Illinois-Edwardsville (94), Belmont (148), Northwestern State (164), Chicago State (276), Eastern Michigan (295), and Eastern Illinois (330).

Our losses are against Louisiana State (81), Ball State (127), Northwestern State (164), Murray State (179), Western Kentucky (188), Western Illinois (224), Illinois-Chicago (252), and Rhode Island (271).

Maybe this is who we are, at least for this year. We have played well in spots, but certainly have not been up against any upper echelon teams. We are 3-2 in games where the outcome went against rank, 3-6 in games where the outcome was "chalk". Simply by NET ranking we should be 5-9 rather than 6-8.

The Valley has a lot of flotsam and jetsam-type teams this season, so there are more wins to be had. There is not a Billy Packer berate the committee consist: Bradley (63), Drake (84), Southern Illinois (115), Indiana State (128), Missouri State (138), Belmont (148), Murray State (179), Northern Iowa (236), Illinois State (241), Illinois-Chicago (252), Evansville (298) and Valparaiso (313). Out of 363 schools.

Having said all that, tonight's offensive performance was a flashback to last season.

This is pure silliness.

ISU is recruiting kids from all over the state and beyond. All it takes is a look at the recruiting forum. And They SHOULD absolutely be recruiting Certa and Webber.

Funny game. Look at the stats - we outrebounded them by 10, actually ended up with a better shooting % and made 4 more FG's. But geez there was some butt ugly basketball tonight, especially in the first half. Like Brick said, 17 first half points, just awful. I won't single anyone out, but we had some guys look really bad tonight, just couldn't get it done. I'm a Sissoko backer, I've said it before, so I might overlook some of his "bad" stuff, he looked comfortable out there, but I don't know that he has more to give than he's giving. Nice to see him go hard. Maybe Sandage would have made the difference out there tonight.

Move on.

certa and Webber aren’t in the HOI conf. ( in ref to a post about sf classic and EPG)

Noah Funk is a Sophomore with good size and plays very well for his age. We absolutely should be in contact and keeping tabs on him. May not materialize, but you’d be screaming if this kid develops into the next Alec Peters or something and we didn’t even make an effort.
