Went to game. First half of was walking around thinking, "I've finally been cured of the need to actually go to any more basketball games. These are just no fun any more. I can't even yell and have a good time because I have no chance to ever win." Second half was fun. At least we all got to cheer for about 5 minutes.

It’s hard to watch a team play so selfish honestly. Someone has to speak up about it. A player or coach which one doesn’t matter. Most of our turnover come from attacking the basket with head down and forcing shots. Something has to give.
What ever happened to guys driving, come to a jump stop and then going up for for a shot before plowing into other people.

Watching the game last night, found it interesting the announcers were talking about the large numbers in the building, only to see it was 2,014 (?). Other than Loyola-Chicago, we have been their best draw of the season (low of 1,019 for Jacksonville State).

I was going to mention them but they the reality is they didn't hold up so that's why I didn't mention them.
Sure, those two got hurt but look at the offers they had out of HS....they had enough talent for other programs. What if Bruninga goes to UNI and has a stellar 8 year career like it seems all UNI bigs have...I'm sure the same people saying to not recruit from small schools would be saying "How did you let him get away?!?"

I mean, hell, St. Joe isn't a big school by any means...Ty Pence's final 3 were Illinois State, Belmont and Wake Forrest.

St Joe ain’t in the HOI The HOI is weak. Like a lot of these posts.
Stop being stupid. HOI is no powerhouse, but it’s made up of the same type of 1A and 2A schools that have produced decent talent. LeRoy produced Matt Chastain who was recruited to a team that had Final Four talent.

Even with the HOI being weak all these kids worth a damn play AAU and play with better talent and against it. Nobody is offering a kid for solely dropping 30 on Fisher.

And to further the point even though it’s a different sport. Alex Tanney set all sorts of passing records for the Lexington Minutemen. Only had a 9 season NFL career. Damn that sucks for HOI.

Yes isu doesn’t need to be concentrating on recruiting the HOI conf. Aim higher
We could come up with all kinds of examples. Pass along your advice to Duke, they signed a kid from Yorkville Christian last year (Jaden Schutt, freshman this year), less than 100 kids in the school and not in a conference at all. Talent's where you find it, you never know. Watched Ethan Happ for 4 years at Wisconsin, from Rockridge HS, about 350-400 kids, Big 10 freshman of the year, all Big 10, ended up all-american, playing for money in Europe now.

We drove a bunch. Unfortunately, most of those drives ended up with us pump faking near the arc and spinning, allowing the defense to collapse and losing advantage. Put your head down and take it to the rim. Twice a big caught the ball in the paint and had a lane but kicked it to a guy who was covered in the corner.

Hit our free throws and we win

Hit our bunnies and we win

Hit the ground running and we win

Swish one three on the inside of the rim, instead of the outside and we win

For a team that supposedly has nothing but guards on it, we dug two deep in the walk on stockpile early and often

This is a disappointing loss especially when this team has the personnel to win. The more I watch them the more I am convinced that there is some solid talent here that can compete in the Valley albeit with a small margin for error. However, they cannot afford 1st half collapses like they have done throughout the year.

The 2 things that derail this team can be improved with mental adjustments/toughness/determination and that is what is truly frustrating — being ready to rumble at the start and to stop turning the ball over so much. Motivation to be emotionally invested at the get go and valuing each possession. Come on Redbirds, you’re better than this! At least successfully control the things that you can control!

Side note due to all the small town talk: Loved Chastain and Bruninga. Sorry that their careers were cut short. Very talented team-first guys that were getting better each year. They both could stretch defenses and Chastain played so hard and was developing into a very good defensive player. He also could shoot the rock and I always thought he should have done it a little bit more than he did. Bruninga could bomb and was getting stronger and working on his inside game when it all went south - I do recall that Drake road game where he made some key plays for the W.
