There was a time, many years ago, when earning a split with teams like Tulsa or Wichita State would be thought of as key to building a resume for earning an NIT bid or maybe even an at-large berth in the NCAA tournament. The program has now been reduced to the point where some might be left to hope a split with Evansville is an indication that avoiding Thursday night in St. Louis is still a possibility. Ugh. 🤢

No kidding, even the CBI will lose our phone number this year. Eville has a NET of 324. That's out of 358 D1 schools. Jackson St. recently dropped 10 spots to 271. At least we beat #330 Chicago St, so there's that.

This is Redbird basketball.

The Jacksonville and Evansville performances IMO is players sticking to the coaching staff. You can always play with effort and being smart. Yesterday was not playing smart. So many unforced turnovers means less shots. Plus not getting more shots in the paint means less opportunity to get to ft line. Sometimes you get what you deserve. Unfortunately, the players don't have a clue how the fans really feel. They move on the next game while we experience groundhog day!

The epitome of this season will be the Bradley game at Redbird Arena. I mentioned in another thread, the team that played in the first half, wouldn't win another game, while the team in the second half, would win them all. That'd put the Birds around 9-9. After yesterday, its probably going to be closer to 8-10 or 7-11. The only thing you can count on with this team, or any of the ones since Paris and Tony graduated is that they will be inconsistent. They'll lose a crap game on the road against UE and come home and beat Drake. They'll get destroyed by INST at home and beat UNI on the road. Not saying those thing will actually happen, but you get the point.

Muller mentioned he was "fearful" after the game about Sy's injury. Hopefully he'll be okay but I wouldn't be surprised to have him out a while.

Substitute “CBI” for “playoffs”…

Sy unlikely to play Wednesday regardless of the outcome of today's MRI.

I do wonder what we would be like if DJ had stuck around
We would have a deeper bench:
Freeman
Fleming
Reeves
Strong
Washington
Horne

Of course if Horne would have stayed would:
Freeman be here?
Fleming have transferred?
Strong have transferred
Reeves have transferred?

I would rather have had Mahorcic stay than DJ.

Interesting that Sy and Abdou both decided to stay after Dusac committed elsewhere . . .

Abdou didn’t really have a choice. He committed elsewhere before a shit storm happened with that coach. Sy was basically kicked off UMASS and quit on ISU. Who that’s an upgrade from ISU would take him on prior to this season?
