Evansville is 320th in the country in three-point percentage.

What a selfish, ridiculous push by Lewis in the scrum. I hope his scholarship is available. Some leader.

Would you not have the best 3pt shooter on the team shoot it? That’s a big part of the teams problem for real. Too many others are taking them
Dribbling up and shooting a 3 before your offense is set is a bad choice. Sorry, Pop, but you can’t defend that choice. It was a bad shot.

Really. He should have rolled with the elbow, screamed, and held his head like he was in serious pain. Have to recognize when to bring out the acting. (Not defending his push. That was stupid. But we know what Ron Baker would’ve done.)

I hear what you’re saying but isn’t most all of the turnovers coming from half court sets trying to be run? That shot was taken because he was open on 4 different plays where teammates drove so to traffic and never looked his way. Twice he was on the perimeter thinking a teammate would swing it to him and it never happened. Yeah that’s why he took that shot.

And it was still a bad shot. And bad shots are turnovers that aren’t listed as turnovers. Forgive me, but you seem to be suggesting it’s okay for Mal to be selfish, but not the others? Really?

Don’t get me wrong, I like Mal. He’s a gamer. He’s calm. He plays good “team” ball. He’s ice at the line. But time and situation need to be considered when taking that shot. That was not the time or situation to take that shot. Fortunately, it didn’t cost us.

We had 19 turnovers and yes almost exclusively in half court.

We had a 3 second violation
2 shot clock violations
At 3 offensive fouls

Thats 6 of the 19 not coming off the dribble or pass

We needed to push the ball in my opinion against an Evansville team so that part I liked; however I wouldn't say that was the best shot selection. There was absolutely nobody inside the 3 point for our team.

You are correct that we don't do a great job kicking the ball out after a drive ... the entire team. Often its not a great pass when we do kick it There's a big difference shooting % wise when you kick it and the pass is at your waist to chest versus at the shooters feet, off line, or too high.

I like what you’re saying actually. What are the chances of a 3 pt shot being taken on that possession by a player that shouldn’t be taking so man? I think the staff are willing to allow that shot but only from a few players on this particular team. Bad shots come in many forms. If you’re more than capable I’d take that shot. Another thing is I never broadcast selfish play. Mal isn’t and never have been. The staff wants him to take more than he does too.

19 turnovers but none in last four minutes I believe. 14 assists too which tempers some of the complaints about our passing I think. One other thing I noticed. In last four minutes we stopped making a million passes before looking for a shot. We made a few then went looking for scores. I think we over pass a lot without looking to score then either get a bad shot or a time clock turnover. But when the heat was on we made plays on both ends. I will take the win.

There are times this team shows glimmers of hope. However, we have too many people dribbling who are not good with the ball, we have people who are good shooters trying to dribble drive, and then there are just TOO many poor passes. It also looks like the players do not understand what is and what is NOT a good shot - shouldn't this be pointed out in game film review??? I see the same players - game after game duplicating bad shot selection.
