I know teams will be lining up for Tone, but damn it seems risky to wait this long. Some won’t have spots so it might not truly be the best situation possible. I wish him the best and will root for him no matter where he winds up.
Is there really a need to take cheap shots at another human being?
No not really unless you’re always on the defensive because of shots been taken at you and now everything and everyone is a target.

It’s not being soft. I like to see myself as having a different perspective on everything. Sports is a small aspect of overall life unless you’re the athlete. I’m not so I have my perspectives.

How is he a one trick pony? He was a damn good player for us then went on to do it at Kentucky. Antonio has accomplished more in basketball than you have or will in your life. Sit down and shut up.

Last season: 14.5 PPG. 2 rebounds. 1 assist. 0.5 steals. 28 minutes per game. All of those are pretty close to his career numbers, as well. I get that hes not the PG but, damn, that is pathetic. See, one trick pony. Ill keep standing.

If those numbers are pathetic, what do you call our guys? I'm interested in a reply.

Antonio Reeves: 488 points, 80 threes on 39.8% shooting, 72 FTM on 78% shooting, 72 rebounds, 37 assists.
Luke Kasubke: 211 points, 39 threes on 35.8% shooting, 38 FTM on 77.6% shooting, 77 rebounds, 50 assists.
Malachi Poindexter: 291 points, 49 threes on 37.7% shooting, 52 FTM on 94.5% shooting, 70 rebounds, 67 assists.

Antonio Reeves would have been the best player on last year's ISU team by a longshot. Same goes for the upcoming year. Basketball is a game of roles - Antonio isn't a one-trick pony. He is capable of doing much more. That isn't what is asked of him. He's elite in his role, one which will get him paid handsomely to play professional basketball. He was 6th in the SEC in 3PM and 4th in 3P%. Scored in double-figures in 10 of Kentucky's last 13, one of those he went for 37 where he went to the line 11 times. Still bizarre to me that this board cheers for Illinois State basketball, but finds something wrong with Kentucky players.

Calipari wanted him to shoot and score. That was his job. He said as much. Also, ”counting stats” never tell the whole story. We use them because they’re easy and give a part of the picture. I’m not saying you’re wrong, but I think you need to offer more to support your claim.

Even if scoring was his ‘one trick’, to average what he has in that category you need to get it in a variety of ways.

He’s not running to a spot and standing there for a catch and shoot.

I agree he may have been the best player on the team, I don’t know how much better though. The talent level that he played with at UK is beyond’s ISU’s roster last year. That alone would’ve taken possessions away from his ability like it did every other player on the roster last year. All that was said to say this. He wouldn’t have made a huge impact on the outcome of the season. I’m still new here but wasn’t he at ISU before? Again, that was said to say this. I think the kid can play at an even higher level surrounded by more talent. That’s sort of like seeing a kid’s career in college where he show tons of flashes and deep down inside you know it’s gonna come out if he makes it to the next level. It happens all the time my good people. Enjoy the day.
