That only means they can't play in the playoffs. They can play a full schedule still. I imagine they will be reinstated if a new coach is inserted. Will he allow that though since he is the owner of the school? This reminds me of the move Amateur. Great movie

How do these guys make money running these basketball prep programs? I'm not sure I understand the business model.

Woodbury claims he isn't the coach. Just CEO. Even though everyone involved says he's the coach.

he might not coach the game but the players look at him as one of the coaches. The problem with this situation is hes not just CEO where they could get rid of him and move hes the owner. if they get rid of him he can just close the damn thing down.

And my guess is some of these coaches aren’t doing their job for a chance at the state title...

Woodbury's response....

So here is the primary reason his response is not truthful.... he explicitly said on the recording,
“Take your broke asses – I’ll say it again – your broke asses back to the garage. I don’t want to hear from you. The bottom line … get the f— out. Just walk the f— out. I don’t give a shit. I control transcripts. I control where you go next. It could be back to Haiti, motherf—–. That’s how easy it is for me.[/b]”

There is no walking back from that statement. Even if the kid did do something wrong, he's a kid, and kids make mistakes. He's supposed to be a grown man, but claims how easy it would be to destroy the kid. Then he releases a statement claiming all of the bad things the kid did...come on.

I was excited about the potential pipeline because it seemed The Nation has some quality hoopers, and it seemed Muller found the program before anyone else - sort of having an inside track. But I hope ties are cut with The Nation. I know they also have football and fine arts, which leads me to believe the school won't close. A resignation is in order here. No way around it.

He is a self-proclaimed CEO of The Nation, but seems to forget one crucial element.... It's not a business. Its a school. I know some will say, "these schools are about business," and I know that. But the optics shouldn't appear that way. We all know its a factory, but don't frame it that way. He might have wanted to use the term "Director of Basketball Operations," or "Athletics Director- Basketball."

He needs to resign, but clearly seems to be a guy that won't do that without a fight. I have a feeling if he is pressured to resign, he will close the basketball program, and in part, ruin the futures of some of his players. I hope Florida prep schools are ready for an influx of players.

I would tend to agree with you but what I'm worried about is this CEO's character. Did he bend some rules to get them to play here? AN has already been declared ineligible. I know, he changed schools and all that but of course this CEO knew that. He didn't do much to help him figure it out. Got his scholarship and whoops, sorry you can't play this season.

I'd be worried about the potential problems that would follow these kids based on HIS decisions. But we and the athlete get punished.

I'm with Timmy here, in that I don't think we just avoid the kids because Woodbury seems sleazy. Could there be problems, yes, but the same could be said of any kid we bring in. If we feel like the kids fit, and they seem like good kids lets recruit them. At least we know where the problems will stem from.

That said, I think the guy is a POS and he needs to step away from this completely. The things he said to a kid are unacceptable and if I caught him alone we'd have some serious words about how to treat kids. But, I don't think he'll ever step down.

Are they not allowed to play FHSAA schools? Pretty sure they are considering they have in the past. I imagine FHSAA makes up most of the state anyway. They won't be amember of either but they basically can schedule 30 exhibition games and really that's all that matters to these schools. LIke you said the coaches aren't in it to win championships. They want to get paid by nike associates to funnel players to certain schools.

I'd pay to see that!

And after to listening to that audio I'd join you Timmy. I don't know about you guys, but being a father figure to my boys involved lullaby's of F you's and I will blank you in the blank right now.

These kids come from nothing. That's exactly how this jackhole treats them, too.

Please don't let this story go away. Scratching my head just a wee bit, along with a few of you, about how our prep school man found his way here.

The SIAA is the conference they play in. Those schools will not be playing The Nation. I can't speak to the rest of Florida.

I think you have to look at each kid on an individual basis. Abdou Played in Senegal, came to the U.S. in 2016. He then bounced around from The Masters School, to CGM Prep Academy, and then The Nation. He got to the Nation late and we got in on him late. I still think his transcript issue was a result of CGM closing up. But you are right, the little weasel in charge obviously doesn't have these kids best interest at heart. And there's no reason to think he's above board when it comes to following the rules.

Scum. Thought it when I first saw him and the audio just proves it. Glad that got recorded so kids don't have to deal with that anymore.

The bright spot in all of this is now Abdou can LEGITIMATELY have a coach and father figure here in the States.

I am curious about Dan's perspective in all of this. Doubt we'll hear that publically, though.

Glad to have the kid here!!!

The thought of those other kids still there being leveraged like that makes my heart heavy, man.

Anything to serve the almighty NCAA dollar, power, and fear model.

Yet I love college athletics. Especially our Go You Redbirds. Damn. What a paradox.
