I love it. College basketball on a path to alienate half their fan base (I.E. - non-power 5 schools). "Protecting" the P5's from ever having to face a middling university not worthy of them on a neutral or away site. What a flipping joke. Am about done with the whole thing, so ridiculous. I truly have less and less interest in watching the P5's play each other only. The different match-ups between school all over the country is what WAS college basketball and made it interesting. If you want just the highest level players and teams competing against each other, my advice is tune in to the NBA. The P5 "Club" ball is setting up as the minor leagues of the NBA I guess. Not interested. Good to see the NCAA going the polar opposite of what universities should be educating our youth on -- fairness and equality.

Related but different sport . . . was watching the SEC baseball final (slow TV day). I became fed up with hearing how SEC schools were shafted for not getting to host regionals when schools with “obviously” lesser schedules and pedigrees like . . . you guessed it . . . INDIANA STATE . . . we’re awarded regionals. InSU won their regional and are headed to the super sectionals, btw.

Just break up the NCAA and be done with it.

I truly hate what CBB has become because of ESPN, the NCAA and all of the conference re-alignment. I also don't watch 2 Power Fives play each other anymore because it doesn't mean much to either team. Finish .500 and you are likely in the Dance. A joke. I generally stop watching the Dance after the 1st weekend, but I will say this year was a major exception to that with all of the underdogs winning. With that being said, I still love watching ISU and I will continue to do so and the MVC as a whole. To me, it is what CBB is all about.

That's comedy. The SEC got SEVEN teams seeded in the top 16.

Our Fort Myers tournament is included. ISU, Iona, Hofstra, Long Beach State, Buffalo and Wright State. Appears UTEP is also in the field. One team still TBD.

Also heard about a solid H/H that will start on the road this season. Hopefully announced soon.

Unfortunately, this is the trend of the MTEs. Not one school on that list that any of the other schools probably could not get a home/home series with if they wanted.

Or, you get in a MTE with one P5 that will host all the little brothers, then send them off so the little brothers can scrap amongst themselves (again, in games they could get on their own).

Very few of the blended MTEs (mix of P5 and non-P5) remain.

Access to playing a P5 is going the way of the dinosaur and do-do bird.

you know what helps? winning. winning means more money, more capacity, more marketing, better tournaments, maybe even a H&H with a P5 like the last time they were good. just win. winning fixes everything.

But then we hear if we’re winning, we don’t get the P6 games cause we’re too much of a threat to wins those games.

I would’ve liked to have gotten a couple p6 buy games this year. Maybe they tried, but this is the type of team you put through a non-con gauntlet I feel.

agree 100 %. unfortunately our hoop brand is not worth much right now so why would any university of hoop significance want to schedule ISU?... esp when isu fans/students have had little or no interest watching them the past couple of years. thanks dietz/lyons/muller

It's the ultimate catch-22 with Mid Majors scheduling P5s. Win consistently and get to some postseasons, and you become a more recognized name in the hoops landscape. So it looks like a decent game on someone's schedule. But because you're a good team, you're a threat to win. Conversely, when your program is down and you've struggled for a few years, it looks like a totally unattractive game on a P5 schedule that they should have no problem winning. And if you beat the P5, then its twice as bad for them. See: Evansville @ Kentucky a few years back, and we can cherry pick numerous other examples from every season.

The days of a H&H with a P5 (even a 2 for 1) are about over. Only chance there is if you get a program in disarray who has nothing to lose, win or lose against you, as was more or less the case when we got St. John's, Cincy, DePaul, NW and Ole Miss (Dan's social media crusade on this one was a big factor, but we were coming off 28 wins so it didn't look like bad game for Ole Miss to get.)

It's a schedule Jank would be proud of!

For where we are with the roster right now, I'm fine with it. See what this new mix of guys can do. We have what, 1-2 left to add? Would love a buy game in there.

I had heard the Miami OH game may have been incorrectly reported.

Noncon schedules are usually 10-12 games. So, I'm thinking there are around 5 left to be scheduled/announced.

I haven't heard anything, but I suspected the same. Probably better to assume it is not scheduled. I was confused why D1 Docket hadn't put it on the site. 2023-24 Conference Dockets
