No games from 12/9 until conference starts?
Looks like it is still loading. Shows Ole Miss and UIC now.

I'm guessing around 6-5 record here. Tough road schedule. I like it.

It's tough to be optimistic about making some noise due to ISU's track record of slow starts.

I'm going to put an O/U of 7.5

Ugh, Lewis AND Quincy? Just missing Ferris St. for the trifecta. What a disappointment of a home schedule.

Lewis is an exhibition. You have to play a non-D1 team for your exhibition.

Right. But Quincy is not an exhibition nor a D-1 opponent. Weak.

It isn't the first time Quincy is a non-exhibition. With a team returning ONE starter, why is this bad? The rest of the non con is well balanced. I don;t see any issues with this.

Agreed. This is a very competitive non-conference schedule for a team with one returning starter.

Yeah, I understand that. But scheduling Quincy too along with all the other meh opponents is very disappointing. The away schedule looks great. Hopefully the games with BYU, Ole Miss, and even FGU will all be home and home series so next year the home schedule will look more exciting.

And BTW, whats with only 12 non-con games this year? In the past we've had usually 13 or even 14 non-con games. We really need to maximize our wins with the schedule being light.

And it was weak then too. This is D1 basketball. Play D1 teams. Schedule already took a beating losing two games vs WSU... Hopefully they make this one of the great 6 PM start times so those of us who work and come from out of town won't miss a good game.

That said, rest of the schedule looks solid to me.

I guess it really isn't a big deal though. Only games that matter now are the 3 in STL the first weekend in March.

I guess it is not bad if you do not care about fans showing up.

There is ZERO reason Illinois State should be playing Quincy in a regular season basketball game. Exhibition? Fine, go for it. Short trip for Quincy, great. Feed em DP Dough, whatever.

But for it to be one of our actual home games is a joke and ridiculous. We've done it for a few seasons now and it was dumb then and it gets dumber every year we repeat it. What is the possible upside to this for ISU?

- I'm sure we pay Quincy to come
- The attendance is lower which means less $$$ for ISU
- It doesn't count in the NCAA' s eyes
- What good does it do the team to play them five games into the season? Because we are coming back from PR? Boo hoo. Great, we get to hopefully blow someone out. Look at us, beating up on D2 schools
- And if, God forbid, a major piece of the team gets hurt for the season during this game it will be a complete waste

ISU is better than this. Play Texas Southern for all I care. At least they are a D1 team.

Every team in Puerto Rico plays 3 games. Also, (I know this is irrelevant because we will not be in at-large consideration) but a D2 opponent does not negatively impact your SOS.

I'm with our leader on this one. Who at Quincy has pictures of our ADs that nobody wants to see? You want a rollover game with a local team? Call Chicago St, Western, SIUE or another state's bottom D1 teams. Playing DII does nothing.

It. Does. Nothing.

"Well, with 1 starter returning, it could help"

Yes, if that game were being held to kick off the non-con season. But we will have already played a final 4 team, a 26 win conference champion and at least 2 other high level teams. Then we kick off our home slate- a game that will set the minds of all of the freshmen (the largest freshmen class in ISU history) as to what an ISU basketball game is and we welcome in... Quincy.

Bad. Just bad long term planning here, guys. Best case scenario is the Birds win by 25 and put on a dunk clinic so people stay interested. Anything less than a 10 point win will be met with a "well, that is what that is, eh? Okay. Lets go back to Watterson for the other games this season".
