There was a pattern of behavior with Brennan that got him fired. If having pledges not materialize got you fired there would be no fundraisers left. The strip club thing is ugly but that alone could have been swept under the rug. Ask yourself why he left so quietly.

approved by whom? I know for a fact that the foundation office doesn't approve the AD's expenses. That is done by the supervisor, which in this case would be the president's office

Good point and I think it hasn't been emphasized in the media enough. This has long been the IRS' stance in regards to any scholarship dollars rec'd by students - it has to be related to educational expenses or it just becomes regular income. I'm curious what kind of 'stipends' conferences...
