Yeah, brain fart on the blanket statement of pro sports having a salary cap. My mind was primarily focused on basketball. MLB's luxury tax has penalties but it still allows major markets to outbid in free agency to some degree. The one thing that pro sports do have is a draft and contracts so teams can't go out and outbid whoever they want coming into the league each year, like colleges now can.Two things:

They’re calling NC State a Cinderella team. Just cuz a team is a low seed doesn’t make them a Cinderella in the traditional sense, especially if they’re from a blue-blood conference. Of course, Cinderella was also a blue-blood since her father was noble. So maybe they’re right and really the others are just upstarts. At least that’s how I think the P5 see it.
Very good point about Cinderella being a blue blood. So true Cinderella's would be teams like NC State, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, DePaul, etc.
