While I hated Jank’s scheduling - aside from that one great year where we played San Diego State, St Joe’s (when they were good), Maryland and Kentucky - I really don’t see Muller scheduling as that much better.
If Dan is not fired, the schedule only gets worse as he tries to go for easy wins to boost his win/loss totals. That trend had already begun. Pre-covid his non conference schedule this season was pretty bad outside of the 2 games in the pre season tournament which I believe was Purdue Clemson and Miss St.

Aside from Jackie & Tyler, this was not a good lineup. Name one player off that team that was any good in the 2013-14 season. Basically Jank left Dan nothing but two pretty good Seniors and a bag of trash!
I would take DJ, Antonio, Howard, Emon, Dusan, Josiah over any of what Jank left Dan for the 2013-14 season!
You serious dude? Ekey went to play at Illinois, ziesloft at Indiana, upshaw in the G league, Hill Purdue....

you’re really taking the current group of guys who just finished last in a crap MVC?

Also hurt that Mullers ego got in the way that season. That team almost won at Louisville, but as the season went on Dan had to be a dictator and make sure the team knew who was in charge. Suspended Tyler Brown and got off to an 0-6 mvc start. Believe they recovered and finished 6th, and lost in semis to Wichita. Felt bad for Jackie and T brown. Their senior years were wasted.
Certainly reads like you tied the two together.

If you look at the offensive rating of Muller’s first team to now, it’s not even close. Muller had plenty of talent.

While I agree that some overrated the talent on that team aside from the two all conference seniors, calling the other guys a bag of trash doesn’t make any sense.

Hill, zeisloft, and ekey were decent role players for big ten schools after they transferred.

upshaw averaged 20 a game for hofstra. Threloff averaged 9 pts and 8 rebounds for northern.

I thought you said you posted facts.

I think these last 2 years have been a disturbing trend over at RBA and it is time for a change. We aren't going to win 15+ games next year or the year after, so it is probably the right time to hit the reset button.

It is possible Muller goes somewhere else an dominates (note Porter Moser), but I think he has now officially had his shot here.

Seriously, Dan needs to go be an assistant for a quality head coach. He’s only learned college basketball from one guy (stallings). I know this would be a shot to Dan’s ego, but he needs to find a head coach who he can work for and learn different methods, ways of thinking, offensive and defensive strategies. This is what Moser did. If Dan self assessed his weaknesses, he’d realize this would be beneficial for him if he truly loves coaching and wants to be successful.

My thought about scheduling was, as a rule, Dan would put us in a tournament with other P5s in it while Tim was hosting some Global World Invitational with non-descript programs. That would certainly account for a win or two difference per season.

LOL, good thing you are not in charge of evaluating talent if your main criteria is point and rebounds stats from one freshman season. I don’t see the point of this exercise when the players you called trash were not all freshman at the time of the muller transition.

For all my Seinfeld fans, this post is basically Costanzas candy bar test. “THEYRE ALL TWIX!!!”

Muller has proven that he is not a good coach. He's shown that and everyone has their opinion on it. However, is scheduling has been so much better than Jank's. It's not even close.

Jank SOS
07-08: 171
08-09: 255
09-10: 265
10-11: 326
11-12: 102
Average of 223.8. In Janks best SOS years, Creighton/Wichita State/UNI were ranked at some point that helped boost his numbers. Outside of the conference, he played one T25 opponent (No.23 UNLV in 2010)

Muller SOS12-13: 87
13-14: 120
14-15: 99
15-16: 108
16-17: 109
17-18: 89
18-19: 125
19-20: 114
20-21: 128
Average of 108.8

Even in a COVID year, Muller still managed to get a T25 team on the schedule. Muller was also helped by the success of the three aforementioned programs, at times. Outside of the conference slate, Muller has played six T25 teams and several others who were on the cusp or ranked later in the year after playing the Birds. No. 5 Louisville in 2012, No. 14 VCU and No.25 Dayton in 2013, No. 2 Maryland and No. 1 Kentucky in 2015, and No. 23 Ohio State in 2020

Though there haven’t been as many T25s on the schedule lately, other games were against really solid and respected teams. Murray State, BYU, Seton Hall, Belmont, Ole Miss, UCF, Cincy, WKU, TCU, San Diego State, etc.

I’d take a schedule with those teams on it over Norfolk State, Nicholls, Winston-Salem, UCSB, Grambling St, Montana State, and Bethune Cookman.

Criticize Muller's coaching, recruiting, suit coach, wife's profession, or whatever else. But when compared to Jank's scheduling, Muller get's the nod 10 times out of 10.

There are not a lot of Rick Majerus’s out there in College basketball, but maybe Dan can use his SEC connection and get on with one of these successful Head Coaches:
Bruce Pearl (Auburn)-Was the Head Coach @ Tennessee while Dan was @ Vanderbilt.
Rich Barnes (Tennessee)-Has been Head Coach @ Tennessee since Dan was @ Vanderbilt.
John Calipari (Kentucky)-Head Coach @ Kentucky since Dan was @ Vanderbilt.
