wish nothing but the best for WIU ... except for this Saturday !!! Looking for decisive win with ZERO injuries ... well, except for a few hard fought bruises for your Leathernecks !!!!

Didnt you mom work at the school .. is her job safe ?

Thanks, same to you guys.

Yeah, my mom (an Illinois State alumna) worked in Financial Aid at WIU, but she retired in 2016 (http://www.wiu.edu/news/newsrelease.php?release_id=13700), so she's fine.
My wife and I both work for WIU, and barring something completely crazy happening, both of our jobs are safe. I have quite a bit more work, as many of the people who did web editing for various individual offices and departments were the secretaries who were laid off in the last big one, but I'm not planning on going anywhere.

WIU games are always physical and hard fought. They are a program I respect a lot.

Hopefully we get it done.

Lawson is always a good poster. He’s a great fan for WIU.

:)

WIU is facing some of the challenges we did in turnover a few years back with many VPs, Deans, and Directors as interims. A large part of that is how long it takes for colleges/universities to replace someone. I know WIU has an Interim President, Interim Provost, and I think a majority of the Deans are interims. However, you could have a lot of those people named to their roles full-time.

Lawson - any thoughts on how they handled the last president's departure from that role?

I thought the current Board handled it as best as they could. There was no way out without having some bad press, but the way they handled it has mostly blown over already (as opposed to long drawn-out legal battles). Some of the community members, however, made it pretty obvious that they wanted him gone because he was, as I saw one person post, "turning Macomb into another Chicago" (as in...increasing the numbers of minority students on campus). The timing of the situation unfortunately made it seem like he was being let go because of the uproar by those community members, and that didn't help the already low morale on campus...especially among said minority students.

More is likely to come from this fiasco, specifically regarding actions of the previous BOT (none of whom are still board members) and violations of the Open Meetings Act

For a good rundown of all that's happened, our local public radio station has a section on their site devoted to it, but this article really outlines things well (starting at the heading "Declining Enrollment, Program Cuts"): https://www.tspr.org/post/leadership-change-coming-wiu

If the weather cooperates Saturday, I believe we will see a huge uptick in passing plays. WIU has been tough in the past but this is just not the year I see them pulling off an upset. There Oline is struggling and in my opinion the worst in the valley this year. Other than a possible trick play or missed assignment on defense I do not see them scoring. I really liked our run game last week and it should be even better this week. It would be nice to hear a timeline for when Edgar could come back. Was it ever made public if he had to have surgery or it would heal without?

Nobody under the age of 75 has (and even then they would have had to have been a baby).

Have a safe trip (that goes for all of you folks making the journey to the land of Forgottonia).

EDIT - Technically we started the 1967 season at 6-0 before winning the last 2 and finishing 2-6. 1944 was the 0-8 season (hence the 75 years).

as I said earlier, that WIU football has hung so tough for this long is amazing. Just look what has happened to SIU and EIU football and even InSU to lesser extent. Just a lot of headwinds to deal with.

Last time I was at Hanson Field, last century, some weak Leatherneck fan barfed right in the middle of the stands, all over some co-eds. Luckily, we were not in the vicinity.

Gotta think the Birds get it together today, even if the Necks put up a bit of a fight. I'm thinking we get a defensive TD here today just for good measure. So I'll say:

Spack's Stars -- 41
Reeling Necks -- 13

Hey Lawson, they still have the Peach Blossoms over there?

I wish I could say it was a stupid penalty, but I don't think they told us what the penalty was for ??

But caught a lucky break on their punt return .. thats 2 TOs for WIU.
