That should certainly encourage those who pay for them year by year to continue paying for the privilege

I'd much rather have nobody pay for now and let everyone in free and raise tuition by a measly $62.50 per year (which is about what is would take to offset current ticket sale earnings). Getting people in the door is numero uno. I don't care which group gets pissy or feels slighted. Hell, they let everyone in for free except donors and raise tickets prices by $100 per season ticket to off set cost. Makes no difference to me but I know averaging 4,000 per game (40% capacity) and only 6,000 when really good is unacceptable. Do what you have to too to get 8,000 in that arena every night.

That is truly a grand gesture! to give up what you currently pay in order to pay nothing.

Have to do whatever they have to do. If it means losing money upfront then so be it.

We're missing the most important part of college sports--the students' energy!

Yes we are. Not knocking the student wackadoos (term of endearment) who are currently showing up. They're a blast. We just need more of 'em.

I'd love to see the entire arena explode in red ticker tape on the opening Redbird bucket. (my apologies to the cleaning crew)

We have had some big games in the last 20 years with some pretty big crowds. We don't retain the newcomers because we for the most part lose or get blown out. We general see a very low attendance afterwards. We have to win those games in order for those new folks to continue coming to the games.

The reason you pay for season tickets is to have the opportunity to get the best seats first and to have your same seat every game.

Any time I go to a pro sporting event, I know the person sitting next to me didn’t pay the same. ISU doesn’t have any kind of secondary ticket market like stub hub, but each ticket for each game should vary based on location and demand. The goal should be to get as many fans in the arena as possible.

What drives me crazy is all lower bowl seats are the same price and same in the upper bowl. There is no way an end zone ticket should be the same price as a ticket near mid court.

Shouldn't be at first

End goal should be to maximize revenue. You do what you have to in the beginning. Any good business will tell you they didn't try to get as much money as possible at first it was about reaching customers at first.

Not maximizing anything if nobody buys them.

Nor are you getting anything if you give tickets away for free Need a combined short and long term view as I do agree ISU needs to get students to the game as that is their farm system for long term season ticket holders and donors.

ISU student tuition and fees already becoming expensive relative to other states and you want to increase that further for athletics? Bad bad move , IMO. ISU sorely needs revenue on the university side for various deferred maintenance and construction projects.

The mens basketball team's Jailbird image takes a toll on attendance too. Too many negative incidents over the past few years. Need the stench of Hawkins, Yarbrough and a few others to fade so that the good character players like Fayne, Evans...etc and the entire ISU hoop's image becomes more likable.
Ridiculous. You seriously are blaming low attendance on a few minor off the court incidents?

100% this!

As for devaluing the product, it’s pretty much rock bottom (in regard to attendance) right now.
How much more “devaluing” is even possible?!?

Sure you are. You are attracting someone to the Arena that might potentially become a fan or season ticket holder...plus you make some money off that over priced concession sales. I'm not advocating doing this to every game. I definitely would games that are expecting crowds of under 5000.

It's plausable. It's not just a few. Yarbrough has a few by himself. They are the laughing stock of thd MVC. Dan has lost control. Players do whatever they want. And, I'd venture to say ISU is at least top 10 in off the court incidents over last 6.5 years (Dan's tenure).
