What's the likelihood that it'll be sold out before the game? There's a guy I know who lives about a half hour from Normal and he's thinking about going, but wants to know if it's likely there will be tickets available to be sold at the gate?

The forecast has been threatening rain on Saturday for at least a week ... sell out will not happen. As it happens, I can not make game .. but not because of weather. For the record ... I made it thru entire NDSU game last year ... 20 mph winds, non-stop rain, turned sleet, turned snow .. the snow was by far the easiest to deal with.

We are currently debating on making the trip this weekend too, but it's going to be a game day decision at this point. Neither the wife, nor daughter, would be up for sitting through a rainstorm. Cara and I came to the NDSU game last year, and she was an awesome sport about it as we stayed for the whole game, but that experience has her backing down if it's storming up there for WIU.

So, sounds as though you feel like tickets would be easy to get if we just wait until day of to make the call.

The weather (predictions, at least) are shaping up in a similar way to EIU. Tailgating is looking like a game time decision. EIU's weather predictions were for rain and high wind...nothing really happened and it was a nice night for football. Hoping the same for today!

Let me ask this, because I guess I haven't really paid attention, but are the Touchdown Terrace seats under a tent?

I'm going to pay my penance for letting rain scare me away from EIU and am planning on making the run down I-39 come hell or high water. Hoping of course for no high water. My fall schedule is screwed up and I feel like I need to get to this game or I won't get there until SDSU.

Tom Skilling, in the Trib today, kind of suggested there'd be "periods" of rain, so am hoping most of the game will be tolerable. Including some tailgating time. We'll see.

Promised Mrs. MadBird dinner at Mona's in Toluca. So far, that's working . . . :)

More weather, from AccuWeather, makes me optimistic:
Variable cloudiness, a couple of showers and a thunderstorm; warm and humid.

Hourly forecast shows a t-shower at noon and 2, with chances at 51%, but no rain at 10 or 11, 1 or 3-6. So, you know, maybe a passing shower during the tailgate, a passing shower to start the game, and then we're in the clear.

we're going to give her props for sticking that NDSU game out .. that went from bad (driving cold rain) to worse (driving colder rain/sleet) and back to bad (driving colder fat snow) .. before things actually improved to a lighter snow with less wind in Q4. By end of Q4 I think we saw some sun ???

Back to point .. good call, cutting her some slack.
