P.S. I remember the SIU blizzard game very well. My daughter and I went primarily because ISU had a pregame letterman’s reception. Seeing the old guys made it well worthwhile.

Who to pick, the guests on a ten game losing streak or the hosts on a four game losing streak? Something's got to give!

Let's make sure Roger Powell Jr. does not get his first conference coaching "W" against his father's alma mater.

I remember a game at Horton my senior year - it was -14 - I looked it up. January 16, 1983 versus Indiana State - Won 96-82. There was a good crowd -5-6 thousand. Today, no so much.

Ok ESPN analytics say we have an 84.8% chance to win this game at home. They must not have seen our three point shooting this year LOL! Let’s get Chase acclimated and the offense in some type of rhythm going forward. Let’s not be Valpo’s first victim and take care of business! A lot of the Johnny K and Chase Walker show today is the remedy needed.

Go Birds!

I am curious if Burford plays and what the starting line-up will be. The freshman don't have to start but they do need to get adequate playing time.

I would love to see some inside out passes whether from bigs or pentrating guards. I think if Foster gets some early buckets, that can help. Of that happens, we might get some momentum going and perhaps open the perimeter. Hopefully some good passes from the interior to a shooter stepping into a 3 coupled with 3s at the top of the key vs the corner. The course of this ship will never get corrected until we can become a better 3 point shooting team. The answer isn't stop taking 3s, instead let's purposefully take taking higher % 3s and let them regain some of their confidence. Long term we might be able to recruit better shooters, this year we need to get more confident shooters. I am not in their heads but it looks like they think they are going miss their shot and therefore they do.

I don't see much swag on this team and a win against Valpo could be a small step in getting some confidence especially after the past four games.

Valpo struggles to guard inside the arc and is one of the few offenses having less success than us. Given their lack of experience and this group playing at home that recognizes this as a big spot in the season I think we win by 20+. Won’t learn much because Valpo is so bad but will be nice to get some confidence back. Playing against bad teams can be a fix - optimistic we shoot it better today and have one of our better performances.

Whoever the female color announcer is on the telecast needs to shut up. She is horrible. Said when the Redbirds get an offensive rebound they need to be more patient when putting it back up…. Lewis was right next to the basket when he got his offensive rebound. What was he supposed to do? Throw it back out to a guard for a 3? She needs to just shut up.

Walker is gonna be fun. Reminds me somewhat of 'La Dunks Leroy f(an all-time personal fav) rom the '90s Glory , with some deceptively quick feet for man of his girth. Nice hustle and loved that foul draw.

...and perhaps some new (overdue) points of emphasis, as Foster is also (unsuccessfully, but still) showing some extra "mean" inside.
