Solid post play by Lewis and Foster with 33points and 20 rebounds. Other than that, a total team melt down by the rest of the players. Also, IMO, Walker needs to lose 30 pounds and get down to 260 next year if he is going to be an effective post player.
Only because UIC kept getting a matchu with a guard on Lewis. It look like us on defense!

That should put an end to all the premature, ‘win a few games and we’re almost in 4th place’ talk.

This is frustrating. Unable to win at home the last two years. Really negates any success on the road.

Kids are trying, coaches are trying, but it’s looking more like a whiff game by game.
Trying? Junior high kids try. This is D1. If you can’t execute there’s the door. Goodbye.

There is a lot of basketball season left. We will not win many games playing like this.

It is clear that there is a lot of building to be done and likely changes to come. Year 3 is going to be a big year with high expectations. Pedon needs to execute getting the right players and staff to get things done.

Side note: we should try passing up fewer layups. Several times we did that to kick out for a 3. I’d rather try for the lay-up and the opportunity to get fouled as well.
I have a feeling we will either see the same cast- or hear the “we are young and new” saying. Let’s hope regardless it gets better!

I am beginning to think what the rest of this season is looking like this fan board will be asking what the buy out is by the end of Arch Madness. This is maddening.

Look at the remaining schedule. There is an increasingly likelihood that we will finish with 11 wins again.

Really looks like “we got our swagger back.” Right coach? Absolute embarrassment to lose to a 1-11 team at home. I don’t care who wasn’t playing (Burford) tonight. That last minute of the game pretty much sums up the season and the current state of this program - Keystone Cops that can’t get out of their own way. How do you come out of a timeout down 3 and not only can’t you get the ball in, but you foul as well? Even the most ardent supporters, like all of us on this board, have about had it.

I can still acknowledge that effort is there, even if the results aren’t. Didn’t feel the need to throw a four letter word towards the team.

End of the day it’s an entire bench that appear to be deer in headlights in a lot of situations. Not much help on the way. That’s coaches included. Maybe especially.

Game highlights
- Cotton Eye Joe. It’s a terrible song but for some reason I still like hearing it from time to time.

This one was rough. Tidbits:

- Burford, Davis, Lieb all out (injured), so down three players
- played only eight (essentially six, as Pence and Walker combined for only ten minutes)
- Schmitt and Sissoko still cannot get on the court ... EXCEPT (see below)

The exclamation point on the comedy of errors came in the final 0:02 when Lewis fouls out and we are down three). Only chance is hoping Flames miss the first of one-and-one and we are able to get off an improbable three. Somehow, the coaches decided to substitute in Sissoko for Lewis. Before the free throw attempt, someone on the coaching staff realized, given the situation, Pence made more sense ... but the officials caught it. Brutal, and unacceptable from the staff.

I am convinced that there are no inbounds play in our repertoire. NONE.

And, I have seen more than enough of Banks losing the feel for the shot clock.

As poor as the overall guard play was, they were still in a position to somehow steal the "W" but could not do it.

By record, this team may finish better than last seasons ... but there has been no sustained growth to point to at this juncture.

If this doesn't convince everyone that Redbird basketball is flat out terrible and is light years from being competitive, nothing will. A total embarrassment of a once proud mens basketball program. But, hey, we got that MVC all sports trophy going for us.

I know naming a permanent University President and a permanent A.D. does not equate to success but it sure as hell gives some stability. What in the world is wrong with the University that I was once so proud to call my alma mater? Get a president named and get a permanent A.D. But, this is exact kind of sh*t that ISU does. It's why we suck.

I decided tonight I just can’t continue to support ISU basketball. I’ll attend the last 3 games I have season tickets for and then hopefully I go to another game someday if the program is headed in the right direction. I admire the fans that will continue to go to the games. You’re a better person than me. I was sitting there tonight thinking how I spend my money on tickets, spend my time there, make the long walk to and from the parking lot in sometimes pretty crappy weather…to watch boring and bad basketball. There are 3 players on the team who should be on the team next year. just can’t do it anymore.
