Rico, I don’t think Dana will ever be a villain for ISU fans. He has given the school more than most! A beloved character in ISU folklore. I agree too that I love his involvement on the sidelines. For the talent he had he gets as much out
Of his team as anyone. His team played ugly last night but never quit.

He won't be a villain for me, but I could see some other schools feeling that way. Always loved Dana and will root for him except the 2 to 3 times a year we play them.

I did not realize the game was an hour early and missed the 1st half live. Looked like I did not miss much. I did go back and watch it quickly after the game was over and was right.
We played a pretty solid 2nd half last night. I loved that we only shot 8 3's and that we made our FT's. Two games in a row made FT's were the difference.
I still don't understand Key's massive regression and now what has happened to Copeland. Love to see JJ gets some time on Saturday. Also loved to see Hein cheering on the team.
It was great to see MY and PF have good send off games at Redbird. MY is a great talent, but was it ever a rocky road.
I am still drinking the Koolaid and hoping for a 6 game winning streak or if not then a 4 game winning streak.
GO BIRDS!

I still don't understand Key's massive regression...

His lateral movements have never been the same after his numerous injuries. He has a hard time sliding to maintain defensive position on opposing guards, and this also seems to contribute to his inability to create separation from his defender on offense.

The largest issue, IMHO, is the loss of his first step. I rememeber comparing his first step to Paris Lee three or four seasons ago. Not quite Elijah Clarence fast, but certainly quick enough to force defenders to back off of him. Now his defenders don't give him an inch when he's on the ball.

I think Keyshawn's shooting regression and penchant for turnovers is completely mental. Most likely a psychological manifestation of the injuries and slower movement.

According to DM post game, the reason for only 8 threes was that Mo State would not leave their man to man and help thereby leaving the middle open which ensured that threes were well guarded. So, it wasn't like they decided not to jack up threes as a strategy but rather it was that they coudln't get them off due to the way the defense guarded them. It actually played into the Redbirds' hands because Phil and Malik can score inside and did for the most part even though Phil missed some bunnies.

I think it was the first post game that I heard DM say that Malik played like a "beast" and used other similar adjectives along those lines. Heaped a lot of praise his way. Malik was talking smack the whole game and I loved it because he was in control and hitting his spots without charging except for that one bad call against him. It seems the league knows Malik drives and gets out of control sometimes because it looks like the entire league just graduated from Duke's infamous flop university and flail and flop like balsa wood when Malik just comes near them. The charging calls against him this year have been about 50% accurate. He doesn't get the benefit of the doubt that other conferences would allow.

Agree 100%. As soon as he turns on the jets and makes any contact, even in the slightest, he is going to get called on the charge. He needs to adjust to that situation as the refs will not be making adjustments on their end and we need him down the stretch. .

At one point last year he was one of the most prolific players at drawing fouls when going to rim. Now players flop and questionable charges seem to be the norm .... how the tide has changed for him.

It is not the refs. Teams are now playing Milik for the charge for two reasons....one it is effective as he goes hard to the basket and it works. The other is that those types of fouls get inside his head and can lead to his self/team destruction. Btw those are two points taken directly this year from a teams scouting report of ISU/Milik. He needs to counter adjust his game aka use some bbiq

I hoping Jefferson plays Saturday and hits some shots. He could really make a huge difference with all of our guards shooting so poorly. I'm thinking Copeland and Evans won't be snapping out of it anytime soon. At least Copeland plays good Def and handles the ball pretty good.

Wish Rey could of got into double digits. I want him turning into the paint and shooting more. With a little more confidence and minutes he could be averaging 8 - 10 points per game.
I think Cope and Key will snap out of it. And, at least they are hitting FTs. If we have a lead to protect in St. Louis, that will be the Key to Cope with comeback attempts.

Both playing well and hitting 3s at SIU today.
