I am thrilled about the final result, without a doubt. With that being said, I hope the team is able to find a basketball hoop at the hotel. Have Coach Judson put on a free throw shooting clinic. Everyone's legs stay fresh and we can improve our scoring by multiple points. Great for team bonding 🙂
Same here. Getting this win is big, but our shooting was pretty bad and our turnovers were a little high.

Only started listening in the second half (wife scheduled a colonoscopy for late morning!) . . . we were up big, then started to struggle . . . I quit listening after Jordan's 3 missed FTs . . . so you're welcome! :p
You're scheduled out for 30 colonoscopies through mid March with Dr Razzy. Dr. Mark C. Razzy.

Congrats, Birds!!! Interesting thing about Johnny right now...he's earning his time the honest way (for lack of a better term) by playing well...and not because someone else is playing bad. We've got a long way to go though.

What a win!! After the Michigan upset by The Beach it was clear we had the toughest first round draw on the bracket.

We knew they would have to mount a run at some point and we held our ground. Honestly after our 9-0 run to open the second half and a 17 point lead even a middling FT shooting team would have it locked up I love, love Foster‘‘a game, but he CANNOT be on the floor at the end of any close game. He must improve FT shooting. Go Birds!!!
We were up 10 with around a minute and Pedon was trying to sub in Myles for an defense-offense switch. The refs told him he couldn't do that at the time and I think the team really benefited from that.

I will add ISU has not won this type of game in several years. That feeling is contagious just as it has been the other way for the past 4-5 seasons.

The most recent time I can remember was the upset of Ole Miss after Dan’s rant and challenge tweet to the Power 5 schools.

I agree. Best win since Belmont! Highlights for me were KL’s (second) dunk and Johnny’s incredible block!!! Wow!!

Been awhile since the Birds took a tournament too, yes? Memory fails me, but gotta be some time since.

That second half, I kept hollering to "run some offense", not sure what the plays are, will have to study more tomorrow.

The announcers were awful. Refs too.

My thinking/hoping, is that part of the TO problem was maybe Kinziger working in with the first team, you know what I mean? Maybe he's been there all along, but I'm thinking he started out not getting much time with Banks and Poindexter and Kasubke, but now he's shown he should be in there, so everybody's working on getting comfortable with each other.

Another thought on playing LSBU - they had some "unorthodox" players, know what I mean? Different kind of awkward moves and spins and shots. Kind of hard to guard guys like that, you don't know what they're gonna do next or how to counter it.

Foster reminds me of Fayne in the sense he came in shooting like 49% FTs. Until he can hit them, he has to sit some key times. However, his net benefit, like Fayne, is worth the risk of a Hack-A-Shaq defense.

I think Pedon can play the hot hand with Burford, Banks, Poindexter, Luke, and JK. Banks seems to be a staple with his defense and playing PG.

Lieb needs to stay out of foul trouble because we lack depth with Walker redshirting and Schmitt not seeing the floor.

I dont care for having H and Davis on the floor together. I didn't think that was a good combination in my opinion. Between Davis, Pence, and Sissoko, somebody needs to step up at the wing position that has some height or can play some minutes at the 4.

We didn't win the rebounding margin this game but it was skewed by all of our missed FTs ... easy rebounds for the LBSU. I have been impressed by our rebounding this year.

The defense has really improved with the depth and some physical bodies. We have played good defense every half except the first half at SLU which the referees took the winds out of our sails with their whistle.

The underdog has won the first three games of the tourney with High Point beating Iona and Wright St beating Louisiana.

It may have been ugly at times but it was nice seeing us win a MTE game. Learning to win away from home is important for this team!!

One last thought, props to the ISU fans that were there. They seem to be loud and active.

Agreed , his follow threw isn’t bad eiether, think he needs to get lower and hold the release

No shot. Foster provides way too much. He’s a dog down low and desperately needed the way he fights. We might just have to live with the FTs.

Killing fans is one thing players don’t worry about, players place trust in coaches and not us.
These days I leave nothing to chance 🦆& 📔. ☮️

I meant killing our chance to win. When your two best players struggle from the field it can spell doom. Our depth allowed us to compensate and still control the game from start to finish. I think its a great sign. ISU fans have become used to what usually happens when your leaders have an off shooting day.

Fouls rendered Lieb an afterthought, but we still controlled the boards for a better part of the game. As Room 222 pointed out, we lost the free throw line rebounding war. Even if we did win the FT% war 48 to 40

33% shooting on dunks can also be a bad sign, but we overcame that as well

I love that we experienced lots of situations that could have caused the team to fold, but they said F it and won.while playing from.ahead the whole way anyway.

Shoulda probably ponied up for the video feed, but the radio guys do a fine job.

Have we ever won one? In season ones. Outside of the Jankovich Invitationals, I'm not sure we have. I'm old so its probable I've just forgotten
A quick look at the media guide leads me to the 2008-09 SMU Tip Off Classic - wins over Alabama State, Houston Baptist and SMU in Dallals. So that's the last one that wasn't a Jank Invite. 98-99 Hawaii Pacific Shoot-out, wins over UM-Kansas City and Iona. 84-85 AMERICAN SAVINGS CLASSIC (STOCKTON, CALIF.) wins over Texas A&M and San Diego and FLEET CIassic (PROVIDENCE, R.I. wins over Northeastern and Providence.

Well, a long time for sure.
