On your marks, get set, GO. The end of the regular season will bring a flood of entries into the portal. The next couple of weeks will be huge. Ideally you want to bring in key players in time for the next semester so they can participate in spring practice. Transfer Mania Monday could be bigger than any Black Friday Blowout.

Two Gopher QB's leaving. Zach Annexstad from Minnesota, started several games his FR year, has 2 years of eligibility. Pretty sure he started out as a walk-on, not sure if he ended up with a schollie. Jacob Clark from Texas, minimal game experience, maybe also 2 years to play? Not clear to me. He had several offers from FBS programs out of HS.

Not that cracking the LB lineup at UW is that easy, but he hasn't seen very much PT. Altho Ty Deforest worked out pretty good for us after leaving UW..

After my original post, I read that Spencer was benched for a freshman. So he is probably not a fan of Coach Riley.

Needs - places where we could use immediate help that the portal could provide.

QB, OL (OT in particular), and WR. I'm happy with what we have coming back at TE and RB. Not sure about FB. If we have a good one like McCloyn then you use him. Otherwise you can utilize 2 TE's and other formations not requiring a FB.

If we don't lose starters on defense to transfer then we should be in good shape at LB'er and the DB's. Jordan has to start in '22 and that could create a shift. I would leave Jordan at the Sam linebacker and move Vandenburgh to the Mike and move Wilhoit to Will. D. Jackson remains at the Jack.

We need another D-Lineman. We'll lose two highly productive players in Powell and Gomez. Braydon Deming is the only returnee that is Championship level. I think we'll try Hickcox at nose tackle and he could be challenged by Okolo. Dinga and Lewan should compete for the DE position opposite Deming. I like Kylan Stevens as an up and comer. That Florida quickness isn't just for the skill positions. You've got to beat the big uglies off the snap.

As a surprise to no one, Bryce Jefferson has entered the portal. Spack probably told him if he was going to stay a Bird, it wasn't gonna be at QB.

I don't disagree with your "predictions". We had a few other LB's who got some PT and looked pretty good at times - McCoy, Fehrman, Bellizi, Campos. Got a fair amount of talent there.

Lots of young OL on the roster, but we can't wait on them to develop, unless they make a big leap in the spring. I'm not as optimistic as you on the RB prospects, seems like Nigel and Pha'Leak didn't do much or see the field much. Hoping for more from Sean Allen, and Lampkin returning from injury.
