I don't disagree with your "predictions".

Lots of young OL on the roster, but we can't wait on them to develop, unless they make a big leap in the spring. I'm not as optimistic as you on the RB prospects, seems like Nigel and Pha'Leak didn't do much or see the field much. Hoping for more from Sean Allen, and Lampkin returning from injury.
That's what I would do at LB'er, not exactly a prediction. The coaching staff has a long history of ignoring my advice. OL became a war of attrition this past season. I don't know if it will happen again, but we need a veteran OT just in case. I still like P. Brown and White at RB along with up and comer Wright. Of course Mueller is da man.

Will Angrybird be angry, or happy Bryce will get a "fair shake" somewhere else?? ;)
Contemplated on changing my name to HappyBird for the day. I think a fresh start somewhere else is going to be great for Jefferson. Big arm and athletic. Think there was a lot of potential that was never fully tapped into. Hopefully he can land a program where he can showcase that more! And yes, always a fan of the fair criticism across the board.

I agree there are some question marks with the RBs. Maybe they pop out in the spring. Mueller had a great year and was the brightest light on a poor offense but nobody else did very much at all. The offense needs a lot of help but the top priority from my point of view is a quality Offensive Coordinator. the portal will not help that.

At what point does Mueller just accept his fate and switch jersey numbers to #25?

Needs - places where we could use immediate help that the portal could provide.

QB, OL (OT in particular), and WR. I'm happy with what we have coming back at TE and RB. Not sure about FB. If we have a good one like McCloyn then you use him. Otherwise you can utilize 2 TE's and other formations not requiring a FB.

If we don't lose starters on defense to transfer then we should be in good shape at LB'er and the DB's. Jordan has to start in '22 and that could create a shift. I would leave Jordan at the Sam linebacker and move Vandenburgh to the Mike and move Wilhoit to Will. D. Jackson remains at the Jack.

We need another D-Lineman. We'll lose two highly productive players in Powell and Gomez. Braydon Deming is the only returnee that is Championship level. I think we'll try Hickcox at nose tackle and he could be challenged by Okolo. Dinga and Lewan should compete for the DE position opposite Deming. I like Kylan Stevens as an up and comer. That Florida quickness isn't just for the skill positions. You've got to beat the big uglies off the snap.
Tyler Pennington was a tough loss for our FB depth. He seemed to be a good kid from a nice family. I sat by one of his family members who I believe was his aunt during the 2019 Quarterfinal game. He was an Illinois kid (I believe from Cary-Grove ) who transferred in from Arkansas. He retired due to injuries earlier this season.

On the roster we currently still have Scotty Presson Jr. (4 years to play) and Brad Gothelf (4 years to play). I believe Scotty was a highly regarded recruit coming out of East St. Louis I don't think we will bring in a transfer at the position, but will probably use the tight end more than the past 3 years. Did we lose anyone at TE due to graduation? If not we have Deming, Lewis, Taula, Carl, Spaulding, and Charles who I believe are all talented enough to compete for the 2 deep.

I am excited to see Okolo come back and thrilled that Vandenburgh seems to be returning. Totally agree we need to bring in a QB, OL, and WR. We have had such a good WR room in my opinion particularly in 2019, but we have just lost so much due to a variety of reasons (Nagel, Grimes, Edgar, Rutkiewicz off the top of my head).

I really want a QB to compete with Jackson next year and some OL help. I thought Jackson could make the throws but a lot of times he didn't have the time in the pocket to make the throws. A clean pocket and some new OL could help the offense out tremendously. Go out and get a Gabe Megginson again or guy like that.

Forgot about Wright, he seems to be in line for some PT for sure.

I've been watching the coaching changes on footballscoop.com, and have thought about starting a thread to start listing names of coaches presumably out of work, but that seems like too much here - there are no openings at this point at ISU. Needless to say, there are many many potential offensive coaches becoming available (head coaches and assistants), altho you could make an argument that they are out of work because their programs weren't successful.

Many successful assistants out there tho. I'd push for a couple DIII assistants who might be ready to take a step up to FCS. The OC at North Central, Brad Spencer, has been there for about 10 years and very very successful, and would likely have some Illinois recruiting contacts. St. John's has a former Bison, Kole Heckendorf, 4 years as OC plus more as an assistant, and a very dynamic and well-balanced offense. He will get snapped up at some point, I believe.

I believe Jackson will develop into a good quarterback and might be our starter for a while. With that being said, we absolutely need to bring in a transfer. Our QB depth chart is Waring, Dorsey, Rittenhouse. I am sure we will bring in a freshman like most years, but if we do not bring in a transfer I will be concerned.

Thought this was interesting. Weah was second team all-conference. He had 116 yards of total offense against ISU.

The end of the article also mentions several other Fighting Hawks who are transferring. And an OL from the Bison. Just in case anyone thought it was all about Spack. ;)

Agree with DaveBird10 and Dmills about Waring but still they should bring in another QB. You should always look for quality O-linemen. Waring and Jefferson had to scramble when the protection broke down for sure but I don't think it was just the O-line all the time. The linemen always get blamed but there were a number of times that it appeared the O-line gave time but there was nobody open to throw to. The wide receivers need some infusion of players that have speed and can get separation The last Redbird wideout that seemed to get open at will was Andrew Edgar. A shame his ISU career was filled with so many injuries. He was a solid player.

The passing game all falls together. There definitely were times where the WR didnt get open. I do like hope guys like Treshawn Watson, Eric Rogers, Tristan Bailey and Jabari Khepera develop at WR, so there are guys there I think that could be good just need them to develop. I do think a transfer QB is definitely coming in, just would like to add some OL and WR to compete with some of the younger talent we have at those spots. Positions shouldn't be handed the troubles we had on offense.

Best of luck to Bryce. I hope he gets to start and has great success as long as it is not against ISU!

The track record of QB's transferring out of ISU, at least in the Spack era, isn't that good. Most didn't excel at QB where they went, at best played DB at a lower level.

Matt Lancaster after 09 transferred to Butler, played and was all conference at QB.
Trevor Rea after 13 transferred to Dixie St. and played maybe one year? Not sure of performance.
Hasan Muhammed-Rogers after 15 transferred to DII Lincoln U. and looks to have played some QB (not much), RB and defense, and returned punts.
Connor Joyce after 17 transferred to DIII North Central, played a few games then injured.
Tristan Smith after 18 transferred to DII Southern Arkansas St. and played some at QB.
Malachi Broadnax after 18 transferred to DII Missouri Southern, played as a LB and S.
Jack Baltz after 19 transferred to Garden City JC and played some this year.

Not that it matters for Bryce and Britton. Best to them both.

I have to say I do know a little bit about the Platteville program and I know some kids on the team. They typically have a very pass heavy offense. Their quarterback that just graduated finished second all time in most passing categories with over 8,000 passing yards in his career. He had 3,315 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and 436 passing attempts on the season. Their head coach of many years just retired, so that may change things a little bit, but their OC may be taking over. I think it is a great fit for Britton and he will most likely be the starter from Day 1. Knowing Britton as a player from his high school days at North Boone, I think he will be a great fit for their style of offense. Platteville is the alma mater of Jaguars TE Dan Arnold. They are in UW Whitewater's conference which is one of the best D-III schools in the country.
