I'm glad to see some embracing Chastain. The kid can play. I think he's just getting used D1 speed. Remember, he hasn't really played since high school and has played limited minutes this season. It's probably generally unfair to be critical of players just three games into the season. I will point out a few things I've been impressed with.
Josh Jefferson can score, and not just shooting. I've mentioned it before but I think teams are going to have to plan for him like other MVC teams plan for Indiana State's Jordan Barnes.
I've really liked what Gassman has brought so far. He does exactly what he is supposed to. Yes, he lacks the athleticism to play a strong man defense but the rest of the team doesn't play well in the man anyway, so he fits right in.
As hinted earlier, Chastain can play. He will always shoot a high percentage because his basketball IQ is through the roof. Someone mentioned shot selection earlier, and he will never take a bad shot. He isn't overly aggressive, and takes what is there to him.
Rey is going to be a good player, but like Chastain, needs more time on the court to get used the speed. You can't teach his size and strength. You can teach everything else.
Phil is going to be in the running for MVC POY. He is so much more valuable than any other piece of the team and should touch the ball every possession.
Milik showed against Chicago St that he can take over when he wants to. We just need him to want to, every game.
I didn't mention Hein, Evans, Copeland, and Boogie because they haven't quite impressed me yet. Evans gets a flyer because he missed crucial practices weeks before the season. Copeland does too because he hasn't played in a year and is playing catch up.

Chastain looked horrible in game one despite his 8? points. He has quickly improved. That's what happens when out for 2 years. I have hope for him that he turns into a good role player. I think this year is pretty much getting his feet back under him, so to speak.

Jefferson looks great. Even though he's not starting he's one of the top players on the team by minutes.

Gassman has been better than last year but he shouldn't be starting.

If Milik can do every game what he did to Chicago State we'll be fine.

They need to feed it inside to Phil more. Not Phil's fault. I do think he needs to finish more non dunks but that's really stretching to find a problem. His free throw have gotten better.

Rey is raw but I see so much potential and wish he would play more.

Keyshawn has yet to find his groove. Hasn't looked good this year. I wonder how much the foot is bothering him.

If Bruninga isn't back until 1/1 -1/15 I'd think about medical redshirting him. Depends on if we have that luxury though. Everyone has to stay healthy and be performing. A lot of ifs.

Tinsley has looked bad on offense and has seemed to fall out of favor. I wouldn't give up on him because he di the same thing last season. Maybe he's a slow starter. If he comes around again he will be huge.

Hein - as Steven A Smith said about Mario Chalmers, "should be locked in a closet with no round onjects of any kind."
I'm kidding for everyone who takes thing literally here.
Look, the kid has the most heart and passion on the team. He is a natural born leader and hustles his heart out. Should only be playing garbage minutes though. This kid will be very successful.

I know you're kidding but a Stephen A impressionist said that about Chris Bosh. I love that bit.

Chastain given some more minutes yesterday. 19 minutes, four rebounds, three assists, a steal, and zero turnovers. Yeah, he sucks.
