Reading today's Indianapolis Star, an article says the first weekend of HS games features Brownsburg vs. Indy Ben Davis - so our two commits from Indiana will face off.

Today's Indianapolis Star lists the top 25 offensive and defensive HS players. While neither of our Hoosier state commits made the list, someone we've offered did.

Samirion Ford, Lawrence North, DB, Sr.
2021 stats: The 6-foot, 200-pound safety made 74 tackles last season, including 12 for a loss, and was a playmaker in other areas, too. Ford caused three fumbles, recovered two more (returning one for a score), blocked two field goals and a punt. He has several offers, including from Air Force, Army, Navy, Eastern Illinois and Illinois State.
What is something you have irrational confidence you would be good at doing without ever having done it before? “Probably track and field. That is probably something that would be easy to me because my mother and my grandmother were in that and running is something that’s a favorite thing to do.

Two Wisconsin WR's enter the portal, Markus Allen from Ohio and Stephen Bracey from Michigan. Neither saw all that much action, but some, and one was a 3 star and the other a 4 star.

Two of our Indiana recruits face off this week in the Indiana state playoffs. Brownsburg (8-1), with TE Brady Probst, faces Indianapolis Ben Davis (6-3), with DL Larry Hart. This is Class 6A, which I believe is the largest. I have not seen any news of either all year reading the Indy Star. Elkhart (7-2), with OL Braydon Jellison, is also in action in Class 6A.

The Metamora/Jacksonville game could be one of the best games of the day.
But it wasn’t.

Today's Springfield Journal-Register has a preview of the Williamsville - Tolono Unity Class 3A football semi-final tomorrow, and says Williamsville OT Jacob Finley, 6'8, 290 lbs. has been "offered" as a preferred walk-on at ISU, and got a schollie offer from EIU. His coach said he expects him to receive more offers.

Does anyone know if we are recruiting Malachi Washington from Peoria High? Seems like someone we could look at.

Peoria Central, or Peoria High, is a program that I hope we are visiting regularly. Their coach played at Illinois and ISU, and they have talented players just about every year.

I liked how effective Washington was in the championship, especially running through contact.

I'm not exactly sure why he's not getting offers, but I have seen similar situations before. Back in 2015 we got a commit from a D-Lineman from Peoria High. His name was LaCale London. We got the commit but he never arrived here. It turns out he went to Iowa Central JC and then Western ILL. London was good enough to get a free agent contract with the Bears.
Maybe the state championship game will spark some interest in Washington or maybe he will need to go Juco.
