I'm certain that there are still players from smaller towns that go D1, but I don't keep track of Illinois h.s. basketball.

Signing the best players that are available is a brilliant plan, though.

Yeah a kid from Yorkville is going to Duke, #2 player in the state.

Back in history a couple years, but Wisconsin had Ethan Happ, from Milan, IL and Rockridge HS in Taylor Ridge. Big 10 freshman of the year, 2nd team All America senior year, all Big Ten, etc. Playing for $$ in Europe now.
