They only averaged 5,100 last year coming off an MVC title (only averaged 5,900 that year) and were in the top of the Valley standings.

I saw the goals of the marketing department was to sell out 1 game this year. The bar isn’t high right now in the athletic department.

When was the last time Redbird Arena was sold out for a regular season game?

A budding rovalry either a top 25 Wichita couldn't even sell out bit it did sell 9,500. Although only probably 8,500-9,000 showed up.

Bradley still outdrew Wichita St in 2017 ... 9380 vs 9078. That's butts in seats.
2015 Bradley 9,627
2010 Bradley 10,200 and Indiana St 10,182

Bradley reports tickets sold as their attendance. Not butts in the seats.

High quality products in both football and basketball but people simply don’t attend. They are trying new packages so who knows. But even in the glory years with Smithson, Donewald and Kevin we just couldn’t pack either field house ona regular basis. I really don’t have a problem with athletic department cause I don’t know what they can do to change it. 21,000 students and a small percentage support it. The rest are oblivious.

National profile of ISU hoops back in the 80's was much higher than today and that is part of it. The evolution of college bball from a financial/marketing/business perspective is so different and unfortunately ISU and the MVC is on the short end of all the changes.

Redbird222 do you have inside info? Because BU has never publically quoted actual butts in the seats.

I think those are the Redbird arena attendance numbers. 10,200 is the capacity of Redbird arena.

0% chance Bradley averaged 9k Butts in the seats at any time over the last 10 years. As bbfan stated, Bradley reports tickets sold. I've gone to several BU games where there are less than 4k there and it is reported to be 8 or 9k.

It seems to me that ISU is doing that in football. I look at the crowd and then I look at the attendance and I'm shocked.I don't mind that since it looks good.

Those are Redbird figures from goredbirds.com

I was answering question last sellout

2010

I was also responding to comment about ISU couldn't sellout in 2017 against top 25 Wichita
1. Bradley game at Redbird drew more than Wichita game
2. Redbird is butts in seats so we wouldn't announce 9500 and actual attendance was less

Redbird222 The numbers you quoted for Bradley were NOT butts in the seats. Those are numbers Bradley provides for the box score. They are tickets sold, and that number is padded somewhat as it includes tickets included in sponsorship packages and other department provided tickets. It has been a bit of a running joke among folks in Peoria media the obvious significant descrepency between announced and actual attendance. And on a couple of occasions, there have been published real attendance numbers for some games via PCC.

And to be absolutely clear, since we started scanning tickets a number of years ago, ALL of our published numbers are butts in the seats.

BB ... I agree attendance figures at Bradley are tickets sold and ISU's are tickets scanned or actually present.

The thread I was responded to was about games played at Redbird Arena. The attendance figures i privuded for 2010 were for RedbirdSoxFan who asked when was the last sellout at RBA. RBA Capacity is 10,200.

I provided the attendance figures for the 2017 Bradley at ISU and Wichita at ISU games for clarification to this

A budding rovalry either a top 25 Wichita couldn't even sell out bit it did sell 9,500. Although only probably 8,500-9,000 showed up.
[/quote]

1. The 2017 Bradley at ISU game had better attendance than the Wichita game. Since the games were at RBA the announced attendance figures represent butts in seats and not tickets sold. The second part of the statement i responded to talked about less fans attending than the 9500 sold. My butts in the seat comment was to emphasize the attendance figures at RBA were fans that showed up.

Hope this clarifies it.

I really dunno what you are saying, Redbird222. It seems to me and at least one other poster you clearly said Bradley attendance numbers for 2017 was butts in the seats. And you tried to build some sort of case based on that. I will go with the clarification of you made the first paragraph of your most recent post, though and say it's all good.

Since I live west of Peoria I get offered free tickets to several Gargoyle games every season...and you are correct...very few students at most games and maybe half full -when attendance listed at 9K

My only issue with not having the tickets yet, as alluded to in the Loyola thread, is they often send the away game ticket order form through the mail too where you can order tickets through ISU's allotment. Since it seems all other tickets to the game at Loyola are sold out, one's next best bet to get tickets at a reasonable price is through that form. Which, given how the tickets are selling to that game, they may end up having to use priority points to assign tickets. Sucks for a 3 year football and 2 year basketball season ticket holder (on my own) like myself. At any rate, I'm not a big fan of Chicago, so this could be a blessing. Instead of spending money there, I can support some local BloNo business that will have the game on.
...but I got new windshield wipers!

Certainly not in the Geno era, but in 2008-09 and 2009-10 Bradley averaged over 9,000, had sellouts and the seats were usually full. On Jan. 6, 2009 they sold out the BU-ISU game with attendance 11,592- their biggest crowd since the 1990's and likely to stay that way a while since they have now removed 300 seats.
