He was a very good player for Butler. Started a really good run there under Collier

Before his coaching days, Graves was a highly decorated student-athlete for Butler. He was the third-leading scorer of the 1996-97 team that won the Horizon League and earned the Bulldogs their first trip to the NCAA Tournament in 35 years. The sharpshooting guard was named Butler’s Most Valuable Player a season later, leading the Bulldogs to a return trip to the NCAA Tournament while leading the Horizon League in free throw shooting and being named All-Tournament team. He finished his playing career with 994 points.

Anyone else kinda done with college sports? The NIL has just made it minor league pro sports and there is no reason to watch minor league pro sports when major league pro sports exist.
I said it in another thread. Stopped ISU basketball after 20 seasons (including about 10 years I didn’t even make a game) and FGCU tickets after almost 10. Got season tickets to minor league hockey. Much more enjoyable

Schertz gets 2mil. Medved gets 1.7-2mil. This is why the MVC won't keep up with the A10 or MWC

I'm not done with it (yet) but NIL and the portal are souring it for sure. College sports has been all about the traditions, rivalries, and pageantry. The fact that players were accessible, they were students just like you. They were on a free ride, yes, but now being paid employees, I feel it devalues the student-athlete part. Now they are just doing a job on a one-year contract. How many of these kids even give AF about why they are there anymore? They all just want to chase the payday now. As an ISU homer it stings extra because they are not going to have that ISU experience most of us know to be so special. None of that matters anymore. Now its just another profession for them and schools are going to have to try to navigate one-year at a time instead of building programs for longevity. I understand this is the way it is, but its a real shit sandwich.
