So is KY changing their philosophy of 5 star recruits that stick around a couple years and head for the pros?

From what I've seen Calipari is trying to sprinkle in some vets in with the 5 star frosh/soph groups

They need someone to practice against.

Their third and 4th leading scorers this year, were a senior and a junior. And the kid who played the most minutes this year for Kentucky was a senior. If Tone went there, I think he'd play quite a bit. I think there are better fits for his skillset, but he'd play at Kentucky.

He may not put up the same type of numbers, but his path to the tournament would be a lock before he even stepped foot on campus if he were to choose to go to Kentucky.

I have a feeling we're going to be coming back to this thread next spring. Antonio has played against guys of Kentucky's caliber before. At least I assume that's what he was doing in Florida last summer. He should be careful about what he asks for.

I have a hard time believing he averages over 10pts a game next year if he ends up somewhere like Kentucky. Hard lessons are about to learned by many of these kids.

My guess is he averages close to Kellen Grady's numbers around 11 or 12 a game. He likely comes in as the best 3pt shooting guard on the team next year, not unlike Grady was this year.

At UK, I could see him playing heavy minutes and averaging close to 13ppg.
I also think, a move like this, increases his visibility. Tremendously.

This day in age visibility is a complete cop out. You can watch about any game in the nation if you want on any given night. You really think the Chicago Bulls turn on ESPN to scout talent? There is a little more method to their madness then watching Big Monday to find talent.

Kentucky occasionally falls apart and lands in the NIT. But their floor, the NIT, has unfortunately been our ceiling for the past quarter-century. Easy call for Antonio - even if better competition exposes some parts of his game.

Well, since that is what Calipari has been talking about since they lost to St. Peters - it is an easy YES.

Think I saw it best from one Kentucky fan. “We trust these high school kids who do it against little competition, but not a kid that averaged 20 against D1?”
It’s funny reading the tweets. Some see him as a huge addition. Many are saying, “Have we fallen so far that we have to take kids from Illinois State?”

I got blocked on Twitter by a Kentucky fan for just saying I guess a 20ppg scorer who shoots 39% from 3 isn't good for Kentucky.

Could you imagine living your life like this? Living on twitter and blocking people that disagree with you? I love me some Redbird sports, and twitter for that matter (up do date sports info in one place) but holy shit people need to get a life sometimes!!!
