Maybe some of his band of brothers have stated to him that they weren't staying. Just speculating. If the team is breaking up, he probably doesn't want to be part of a rebuild again.I wonder if Tone would have transferred if DM wasn't fired? He said a few times that the team was like a band of brothers and that they all wanted to stay together albeit for Tone's latest reasoning that trumped that sentiment.
Part of a rebuild again? Excuse me but they’ve played Thursday night each year of his career. Next year has more hope than any other. And to be frank, I love Tone’s game and he’s been a fantastic representative of ISU, but I’m not getting upset over someone on this bad of a team leaving.Maybe some of his band of brothers have stated to him that they weren't staying. Agreed. Get a coach that can build a program, not a team of athletes. We’ve tried that the last few years and are a bottom of the valley squad. Reeves can fill it up for a bottom feeder. It’s proven. What would he do on a team that is actually competing for the conference title or would he even be the go to guy?Iowa State won 2 games last year and now they are in the Sweet 16. It can be done in ONE year.
I don’t know what you’re smoking in that pipe of yours but pass it down.As long as there is a minuscule chance, I’m going for Coach Pedon to bring in a couple of Belleville guys to get this party started:
E.J.Liddell
Javon Pickett
Antonio Reeves than pulls his name from Transfer Portal
Sy returns
Fleming developes into the top PG in MVC
Maybe a better term than a rebuild is "a new group of players". We haven't had any continuity with the same players in his time at ISU. I don't blame him for leaving, especially if he lost his coach and some of his teammates. I would still want him back if we were 0 and 30 last year. The guy is a good player that has been stuck in a bad situation. Forget the point total, the eye test pretty much says he would help us next year.Part of a rebuild again? I'm really interested to see how his game plays out in a p6 conference 2-3 nights each week. Is he a role player? Starting 5? Yesufu at Kansas?Maybe a better term than a rebuild is "a new group of players". We haven't had any continuity with the same players in his time at ISU. Yea, a fesh aproach will be interesting to watch.Agreed. Get a coach that can build a program, not a team of athletes. We’ve tried that the last few years and are a bottom of the valley squad. Pedon wasn’t brought on to build a team or retain talent for Antonio Reeves. He is here to rebuild the entire basketball program.
The improvement of ISU players over a 4 year period was one of many reasons I enjoyed following college basketball players. I think over the last several years, that has not been a strong suit. However, I do think Dean Oliver did a great job. Hiring the right assistants are key.I am excited to see the growth of the guys that stay.
Wonder how much NIL money was involved in that turn around? Something that, I don't believe, we have a lot of.Iowa State won 2 games last year and now they are in the Sweet 16. It can be done in ONE year.
