I’m impressed with Sissoko’s offensive rebounding.
This!! In this weird crappy covid year I will take high scoring fun all day every day. In the grand scheme of things it's a game. I enjoyed the heck out of it and I am happy basketball is back.
I think the player for Greenville with only 1 hand is Zach Nabers. Per the box score he did play 5min and shot one 3 but... did not make it. Box score says he had 0 points. I hope they didn't screw him on the stats if he actually made the shot.Mixed feelings - nice to see the guys play a game, nice to see everyone get some PT andd points. Hard to get too puffed up about the "publicity" one gets from pounding the crap out of a DIII school. Pretty sure not all the ESPN viewers get that the reason we got to all those gaudy stats has more to do with Greenville's "system" and less to do with ISU's skill. High point of the game for me was when the Greenville player with only one hand made a three. But let's move on and get into the "real" season.
Maybe I was just rooting for it to go in for him!!I think the player for Greenville with only 1 hand is Zach Nabers. Per the box score he did play 5min and shot one 3 but... did not make it. Box score says he had 0 points. I hope they didn't screw him on the stats if he actually made the shot.
Add in Howard Fleming Jr and this freshman class along with DJ & Antonio and the future of Redbird basketball is rising. What I learned from this game . . .
Was fun watching this game for a while, then got a bit boring. Glad the kids had fun.
- Emon Washington could be really, really good, Osiris-type good. He's explosive, can handle the ball, and has good instincts. Really looking forward to watching his development.
- Sissoko is further in his development than any "true" RS frosh Dan has had yet. I'm not counting Hawkins or McIntosh since they weren't eligible their first year here. Sissoko was a RS by choice. He's better and more polished than I expected. He's also bigger than I expected.
- Defense is still our Achilles heel. Gave 100+ to a D3 team. Got schooled an awful lot by shorter, slower players.
- When the guys cheer for each other and share the ball, they elevate their play on offense.
I just read that we still turned the ball over 24 times. That's pretty bad, but I hope it's only because of the pace of play.
Groin injury.Add in Howard Fleming Jr and this freshman class along with DJ & Antonio and the future of Redbird basketball is rising.
Did Dan say why Fleming did not play?
