Embarrassing....We were run out of the gym by a 3 and 5 team. Just awful.

Could be worse. Could lose at home to High Point.

Cool. So now we are comparing losses to the likely last place team in the Valley.

The effort is pathetic. Lousy or not, have some heart to now allow 90 points to a below average team.

Pathetic

Thats the mantra of ISU basketball now. We don't beat anyone good, but give us an NCAA Tournament bid!!!

The MVC doesn't have athletes so it's ok to get wiped off the floor by an awful Georgia or SDSU team.

UIC is awful and we weren't even competitive. When our hope is Hein, Chastain, and Bruninga, that are all too slow and un-athletic to play at this level will save us, it isn't good.

No excuses. Disgraceful. I think the worst loss since I became a Redbird fan in 1977.

Short term memory.

25 point loss to Missouri St (Southwest Missouri State) @ Redbird Arena.
We were having this same discussion while leaving the arena ... The first one that game to mind was a home game against South Dakota St. We were getting killed by halftime (19) and I sat dumbfounded through the whole second half. The truth is we have a really bad game every year and somehow we often regroup ... fingers crossed I apologize in advance for the last one on this list:

1. 2017 - 18 @Indiana St 84 - 54 (1 of 4 games to choose from)
2. 2016 - 17 @ Wichita 86 - 45 (my votes goes here)
3. 2015 - 16 South Dakota St 83 - 67 (I believe campus game of some tournament ... your supposed to win). Game worse than score.
4. 2014 - 15 @ Northern Iowa 83 - 64
5. 2013 - 14 @ VCU 95 - 58 (opening game with so many turnovers and being crushed at halftime)
6. 2012 - 2013 @ Evansville 79 - 62
7. 2011 - 12 @ Creighton 102 - 74
8. 2010-11 UNLV 82 - 51
9. 2009 - 10 @Niagra 70 - 56 (Not that close and bracket buster game)
10. 2008 - 09 @Dayton 63 - 42 (NIT game)
11. 2007 -08 Drake 79 - 49 (MVC Championship game).

On the bright side we have often made the MVC championship game even though we have had some awful games.

If there was some concern about Copeland's injury, I am glad HCDM held him out.

Best we can do know is lick our wounds, and get some guys healthy and getting better for the Valley slate.

Why? Because he pointed at a flaw in MY's game?
For the second straight game, Milik played his ass off. Can’t put this on him. He is the only one who looks annoyed with the losing.

It looks to me like he is auditioning more so than trying to win the game. Shooting pull-up 3s against a defense with everyone back is a bad look regardless of whether it goes in.

Dude is a turnover machine. He dribbles so high and is so weak with left hand. Everyone in the gym knows it’s going to get knocked away and go the other way for 2.

His effort has been better and he has been rebounding but it all feels individualistic to me.

Yarbrough 20 shots. Jefferson 17. Fayne 5. We will never in a million years win that way.
Yes Milik had to handle the ball way too much today and the dribbling is a fair point. With Copeland on the bench and Evans playing timid ... who else? Phil probably had 4 more shots but was fouled and went to the line (they don't count as attempts). This alone with sitting a good chunk of the first half limited the attempt number. KE looked scared to shoot the entire first half which also led to Jeffersen and Yarb taking more shots. He was open at times and passed ... he has no confidence.
Yarborough did shoot 15 shots inside the arc and at least one if not 2 of 5 threes were late in the game. I don't think his shot selection was bad given the circumstances.

If you could combine Janks ability to get a team playing together as one and Muller’s willingness and ability to schedule you’d have a whole head coach for the program!

We would still have to find a third coach to call time outs though

Sometimes this board gets so ridiculous, tonight was a terrible effort, but the season is hardly over. I agree there are some pretty rose colored glasses fans, but its just as bad the other way. Terrible Georgia or SDSU? They may not be GOOD but they aren't awful, though to some they would consider 90% of teams awful. Not sure we deserve an auto bid as a conference? Then what about the 17-20 conferences that will rank behind us?

Reminiscent of our road blowouts last year. How does that happen with our experienced returnees? I agree that Evans has regressed. Ten games in and porous defense. Bring back Michael McKenny at point guard. Hell, I’d take Dave Nussbaumer back.

I would take Newbaum Turk.

I haven’t been a fan for as long as most of you, but this is about as embarrassing as being a fan has been.

Try only being a fan cuz your little brother is on the team I don't know how you guys do this for 20-plus years

Some thoughts on the game:

We lack senior leadership on a team with 4 seniors.

We don’t have a lockdown, Tony Wills type, defender to put on their best player.

UIC isn’t a bad basketball team, they may win the Horizon League.

We need to get healthy before Conference season.

We knew that this season would come down to 3 games in March. Nothing has changed. Rest and get healthy before Conference season and start the battle for seeding.

The Ohio Valley just called about wanting us for a buy game next season.

:text-+1:

What makes me most depressed about this season is we don't get a high draft pick for next year .... sigh.
A dumpster fire is an understatement...more like a wrecked train that was carrying flaming dumpsters.

Maybe Dan can get us playing better by January. Evans is killing us though, so is Tinsley. When Chastain gets healthy I want to see him staring. He at least busts his ass out there.

All 3 guys made a decent percentage of their shots
Fayne attempted more than 5 shots, but those additional shots don't count when getting fouled. Being 4 guys short handed with Tinsley and Key tossing up bricks...these 3 will be carrying the load until Copeland is back.

I agree. Chastain starts for me when he returns. Despite what some think I believe he is pretty athletic. Serious hops! Given the way tinsley is playing you lose nothing by starting Chastain and see if he can do something positive.

From what I hear Bruninga will be in a boot for at least two more weeks. Question then becomes do you redshirt him? It’s not like he takes the boot off and starts playing. At best mid to late January before he contributes.

While no one could have imagined four serious injuries it’s clear now that we have too many scholarships invested in next year. That’s on Dan. Had to know the big kid from Florida was going to have to sit a year. Simply didn’t recruit enough for the present.

If Evans and Tinsley don’t get it figured out soon it’s a .500 season. ‘‘Tis a shame given the high expectations

This team has a lot to prove. Its hard to believe this is the same team that had so much hype going into the season. How in the F#c* can this team be worse than last years team with FOUR seniors on the squad. Something is going on behind the scenes. I don't know what it is, but what ever it is has this team turned into a bunch of head cases. Even Phil looked like he didn't want to be there last night and he is normally the guy we can always rely on to bring it every game.

Two Seniors need to get their heads out of their A**….

Keyshawn Evans- He needs to man up and lead his team his senior season. He has been garbage since the start of the season. I gave him a pass for the first several games because of injury, but I don't think its injury any longer that's making him play like a timid little JV school girl out there. Wake up Keyshawn and figure it out

Boogie- WHAT THE F*CK!? Besides a lucky rattled in three ball once every 3 games and a rebound that falls into your hand to give you a stat, what the hell are you doing out there? He is playing like his girlfriend just dumped him, his head is not in the game.

Its depressing (and even more frustrating) to watch this team. I don't know what the answer is. But then again that's not our job. The university pays this coaching staff well to get this team ready. So far we haven't played a game this year where I was able to walk away and feel good about the performance. The team lacks leadership, defensive mindset, and rebounding. You put all three together and your going to make pretty average teams look pretty good.

I hope they don't wait till after of the next game gets over to hand out the bobble heads..... They may not be able to give them away.

Copeland coming back is not going to save us. He’s been barely average.

So if you're a basketball player and you know that you only have 2 guys available on the bench how does that effect you? Do you go balls to the wall? Do you dial it back a notch because you know you can't foul out and you know your going to log heavy minutes? Do you stay on the court when you're gassed and would normally come out? I know it would effect my football players if they had to go both ways and knew they were never coming out. Same in basketball? Kids are human. Perspective.

I understand, but there's also something to be said for endurance and grit.

Our go-to types have never logged demanding minutes like on most teams. Coach has conditioned them to be part of a constantly rotating, "line change" pattern of substitution. When the bench is limited, we look gassed and out of sorts all game.

I thought the same and it goes beyond that....you have to believe the coaches said “watch the fouls”. But the players should not be in this position. Absolutely can not start the season with a roster of 11 unless you are planning for the futures as last nights situation is not unconvievable to have 4 players out esp given ISU’s injury history.

What continues to concern me is why are we always hurt? What is going on at practice? It would be one thing if injuries were a one year thing, but seem to be a scary trend under Muller.
