You either like Redbird Football or you don’t.
You either like what Coach Spack has done or you don’t.
You either like the players we are putting in the NFL or you don’t.

So much good momentum and trajectory after 50 years of nothing before. If you don’t like it, spare the rest of us that financially support this program.

Your world may be that simple but it is not that simple for everyone. One can like what Spack has done/doing, one can agree that ISU football has improved, one can also agree that ISU has done a good job of getting players to the NFL and one can support ISU football/Weisbecker annually yet at the same time want ISU to make a significant move on football before one considers materially donating towards ISU athletics. BTW good job to those that do support ISU athletics but annual donations seem to be trending down based upon some NCAA athletic department data on ISU athletics.

Then donate directly to the End Zone Club / Players if you can't get over the "Athletic Department"

nice recap RBDad .. very sorry I missed the event this year. Nice to hear Spack talking more about importance of multipurpose indoor field to football ad other sports programs. This is only logical next step for our program to keep this moving in right direction. Winning culture and Hancock 2.0 have made big difference in our ability to recruit and become less dependent on FBS transfers the last 3 years.

Time for AD Lyons to start working it hard beind scenes. Another winning football season with playoff run will certainly help loosen some purse strings. Let's make it happen and get a date to break ground !!!

Great evet .. hope he comes back this way every summer .. tell him saturdays would be much easier to draw.

I am again contributing to the End Zone Club this year .. great use of funds to help players supplement their nutrition .. healthy food designed to help them keep the weight on year round .. very important in football. Some of you would be amazed how easy it is to lose weight (or eat unhealthy to keep weight on) as football player if you aren't eating right.

Contact Randy Clark for more information and how to join .. great guy, low pressure sales pitch for a great cause if you're looking for way to help program. It won't help us take an FBS P5 recruit, but it will help us win the tweeners and G5 recruits.

I talked to Coach Spack in his office a little more than a year ago; I'm not an Athletic Department "high roller," and my WSF donation is modest at best, but in my line of work I met a former Purdue player who was recruited there by Coach Spack, and eventually that mutual friend led Coach to invite me to stop by his office when I was in the neighborhood. When I took him up on his offer, I was expecting maybe a 30 seconds exchange of greetings, but he was very generous with his time and we sat and talked for maybe 20 minutes, if not more. We talked not only about the program, but even about some about personal matters relating to my health condition.

Anyway......back to the point. I saw renderings of an indoor practice facility and Coach was convinced that getting it would be a game changer for the program. He said that the point person in fundraising for the project was the Assistant Athletic Director who went down with the Redbird 7 in April of 2015 and that loss had been a setback that would delay the project, but hopefully the momentum is back now.

All the more reason to flip the bird when they get the new turf and film from the East side!

Why? They want the East side to be on TV so they will film from the West side. That's not going to change until Horton comes down.

I am aware that I am in the minority but my position continues to be that it is weird and pretty amateur to have an upside-down logo at midfield. Perhaps if someone could point me to some respectable football programs with an upside-down logo on the field I would feel better about it. But I have done a lot of Google Image searching and everything I can find appears to be right side-up.

It's always going to appear upside down to half the seats. It looks appropriate on TV.

Are you concerned that the team turns their back to sing the school song postgame? Do you interpret meaning to that as well?

I’m confused. You think it’s upside down to everyone in the stadium?

guys, I already solved this one in a post from a month ago. When we install the new turf next spring, we should also install a revolving underground platform on which we place the turf with Redbird logo. Then we rotate it every quarter to appease the entire stadium accordingly. That will also work when we fill in each end zone .. so problem solved.

Can we please move on ???

:p

What about they put a big block "I" on the 50 yard line, a big white or red "I", and then at the bottom - on both sides - write STATE underneath. So it would look sorta like:

ETATS
I
STATE

You could put a Reggie on each side on one 30 yard line, and the MVFC logo on the other - so 4 logos, two on each side.

I recommend we change our mascot from Redbirds to the Squares. You're welcome.

Nah, just the suites. And the stadium club. Plus the press box. Oh and our team. And, you know, the entire home sideline.

Stil kind of funny how this could be construed. Obviously you know we moved home side from west to east with renovation. I would presume they will "flip the bird" when they install new turf next spring.

That said I'm stealing credit for your orifginal use of term ... flip the bird .. i think they should rename the new turf project to Flip The Bird .. gold.

I like HailSNU's idea ... let's just "Flip the Bird" to the entire new home side when we put the new turf in .. I meant that literally, not .. well .. you know what I mean.

There are more people watching on TV (at least they hope) then sitting in the home stands. The logo is going to face the West side where the cameras are until Horton comes down.

Not a chance in you know where they spent all that money to NOT show the home stands as the backdrop on TV. Zero.

Good point quinn .. so I am officially now opposed to "flipping the bird" to our season ticket holders.

p.s. still love HailSNU's inadvertent (or not ?) double entendre (i.e. flipping the bird) .. its a classic, so going to milk it regardless.

That's a good point. I sit on the general admission side just so I can look at the renovated part. I never know which friends will go from one week to the next, so that way whoever shows we can all sit together. Plus, the student side is just more fun...

I think 'Flip The Bird' would be the perfect slogan to raise money to switch the turf around...

I'd just like to use a reversed Reggie as a backdoor insult to any Bradley fan who dares cross us on Twitter. They won't even realize we're flipping the Bird at them!

Redbird Rising has raised 114 of the 150 million target...so I guess that's good. Would love to see the new training facility become a reality.
