There shouldn’t even be any polls until after the third or fourth week of the season.

Anything top 8-10 seems fair to me. Were coming off 2 underperforming 6-5 seasons .. each of which saw us crap the bed twice. We need to beat a good team first .. and not crap the bed twice. Then let's talk top 5
Until then .. were still in the picture for top 8 seed talk after just 3 games. I'll take that.

On the other hand, we beat an NAIA team, an EIU team that has not won a game, and a CSU team with one win. I can understand a ranking like this.

And the teams ranked ahead of us have had some easy wins too. Alabama St. Central Washington(DII), Mississippi Valley State. What happened in their FBS games? E. Washington blown out by 35 against Washington St. Weber St. blown out by 31 against Utah. Wofford lost by 3 to Mountain West Wyoming and Wyoming was blown out by the two P5 schools they faced. CSU beat P5 Arkansas.

I actually do think we should be above Wofford, Jacksonville State, and Kennesaw State.

Down to 14th- not bad. MoSt now getting 13 votes for ranking. They keep playing like that and they will be an out of nowhere T25 team. Add it to the pile, I suppose.

For what it’s worth, we were listed at #4 on this list last week.

Birds up to No.12 with the WIU win in STATS and Coach poll. Had they beat Mo State, I'm guessing they are at No. 6 or better.

MoST played at USD and lost by a TD. USD is bubble top 25 team. MoST is arguably top 25 team
So our 3 pt loss to MoST doesn't look as bad as it would in prior years.

SIU is having rough season, but they are (or were) not a doormat team .. they had 3 FCS losses to solid FCS teams by TD or less ... plus gave Ole Miss fits for 3 qtrs before game slipped away in Q4.

And our 3 pt MoST loss on road is looking less bad every week. MoST is now 4-2 having just beat InSU on road ... most years that win would not impress at all, except InSU is no longer a doormat team. They took SDSU into OT on road 2 weeks ago. Their run offense is giving people fits. They didn't show up against UNI couple weeks ago ... literally because I read on AGS they were supposedly missing 5 starters against UNI and got them back against SDSU. Anyway, MoST is getting some top 25 love now.

As for teams ahead of that lost ...

EWU was missing their stud QB Gabrud with a foot injury. He was also out last week and they handled Southern Utah pretty easily with offense not mising a beat. Not so this week against tougher Weber St defense.

Elon just won at JMU last week, and follows it with let down against Delaware ... though Delaware may finally be showing up this season after slow start.

NC A&T being 10th was a bad joke .. they've now got 2 bad losses at home. Massey has them at #42 after yesterday's bad loss.

Nichols St is hard to get read on, but seemed over-rated at #11 .. Massey now has them at #34 after yesterday's loss to Massey #66 Abilene.

So I think we should be about 8th .. we're 5-1 against #43 SOS and now we hit the meat of our schedule.. NDSU (road), SDSU (home), UNI (road).

#3, #4, #6, #10, all lost

#2, #5, #8 were all on byes.

yeesh, after NDSU, these rankings are just anybody's guess. Even JMU and SDSU now look much more vulnerable since a few weeks ago. The FCS selection committee is really going to have a hard time seeding and selecting from bubble teams this year. This is not a good year to be on the bubble at 7-4 or in our case, 6-4.

Guessing we will drop to about 12th or so. Look forward to bouncing back against SDSU ... a solid win should put is right back into top 10. But then we have a surging UNI team on road ... a few weeks ago that looked like pretty easy road kill .. not the case anymore.

Hoping our young guys got a nice lesson in humilty and learn from yesterday. Still love our 2 deep .. it is potent .. young, but potent. Every game is another chance to gain experience, learn, and improve.

Let's get ready for the widdle wabbits !!!!

Redbirds are No.9 this week. Between the losses of everyone else and the fact the Birds only lost by 14, I think that shows a lot of MVFC respect from the pollsters.

Next week: No.9 Illinois State hosts No.8 South Dakota State.

Only 4 MVFC Teams ranked, 3 of which are top 10.

1-NDSU
8- ILST
9- SDSU
23- UNI

Awesome! Still 8th. Sounds like SDSU is a little banged up from what I read somewhere on the board a week ago. Hope that's still true. It's time to get back on the horse! I'm feeling like not only will we be in the playoffs, but we'll have a home game as well.

Birds kept it close, on paper, this weekend. Because of that a win over SDSU and any other W this season should lock the playoffs an a T20 ranking by end of year. Huge game saturday!

UNI deserves much higher ... they started slow, but have found their mojo. I would put UNI in top 12, and no lower than 15th. I feel like we will be ready for SDSU at home, but not nearly as sure about UNI on road.
