Red Rocker said:The other thing to consider was the MVC was at its best when Moser was here and we were at our worst when he took over. He got Osiris to come here when we absolutely sucked. The MVC sent 4 teams to the dance in 2006 and 2 of them made the sweet 16.
Sometimes it pays to be patient. Dan has to get better in big games too, but we need to stick with our guys and they will get better and better.
I am so happy for Porter and the Valley.
Beat me to it. Moser had two decent years here and two ugly ones. All four years we had competitive teams, just too much in the L column. Part of that was some roster turnover, and most of it was the rest of the conference being outstanding in those years. We were just one step behind everyone else, but it certainly wasn't for a lack of effort by Moser. He was every bit as passionate & energetic as he is now and an extremely likable guy. He certainly had things setup for a big year in '07-'08 but was let go, and Jank enjoyed the stocked cupboard Moser left him.
In the 11 years since Moser left, we've really been consistently good if you think about it: We've had just one sub .500 season overall in that time, and several postseason appearances, just not the one we really want. A big part of that is one thing that Jank & DM have in common: Either a bad loss or two in the regular season, and/or inability to win on Sunday in STL. We've sure as hell proven we can get there regularly, just can't bring it home.
One day that will change...
