I know we are split and argue over moving up to the FBS level hourly! I wanted to throw this into the conversation. Idaho moved back to the FCS two years ago. They went up to the fbs level for from I what can figure out 22 years and are now back at the fcs level. The article talks about how many fcs schools have made the jump and more have recently than ever before. They talk about how a few have found success but many are not winning at all. I found the article very interesting and talks to both sides of the fbs vs fcs conversation.

Interesting article 04. The move-up is risky with no guarantee of any success on the field or financially. App State moved up and seems to be doing pretty well at least on the field. I have no idea how they do financially. Old Dominion moved up after starting its football program from scratch in 2009 and a short stint in FCS. They had some success going to the Bahamas Bowl (id you call that success) a couple of years ago. But after two losing seasons, attendance and season tickets sales were not doing well and the coach that build them from the ground up officially resigned although rumor has it he was told resign or be fired.
NIU has been FBS for a while now but has it really done anything for the school? The Birds played them tough and could have won that game. They do not have great attendance for what I see on this forum and does anyone know them outside the MAC and the state of Illinois? I doubt it.
anyway, if you cant get an indoor facility or even a temp bubble established you probably need to stay FCS.

Just so everybody is clear we have a 2 for 1 with Dixie St. They play here next season 2020 and again in 2023. We travel to Utah to play them in 2026.

missed this post til now, and dug a little deeper .. you're right. Now this deal seems to make much more sense than it did initially.

And they did something similar with several other FCS teams than we first thought .. though maybe not all got a 2 for 1 home deal. But add UNI, SHSU, and several other Big Sky teams.

Mrs StL and I are finishing up a weekend in So Utah and this is a hikers paradise. Fly into and out of Vegas and hang there if you want. Kudos to whoever scheduled this game
