And the ultimate mapping....I wonder whom the ncaa savant is!! This site appears to be under development but speaks volumes about FCS clusters of schools.

Wow! Thanks for that graphic Chuckie! Evidently, I am sitting in the middle of the hotbed of FCS Football! It really makes sense why the Eastern schools would not be very interested in scheduling in the Midwest or West. They have so many programs in very close proximity why would they assume the extra travel costs? It is still too bad that ISU could not get a foothold in this area since it would give the program exposure to some great recruiting grounds. Looks as if ISU is focusing more of their recruiting efforts in the Texas corridor where the FCS schools are also well represented. Makes sense but selfishly I would love to have the Redbirds travel out my way for an ACC game. I guess I will have to wait for the playoffs (thinking positively)! :D

This is HUUUUUGE! Who needs to play Utah? Who needs to play Utah State? We landed Dixie State! We need to get Augustana on the phone and sign that contract the day they go D1! Way to go Larry! Way to shoot for the moon!

We play Illinois, Oklahoma and NIU the years we play Dixie State.

I don’t think Lyons is doing a good job in many areas, but future football scheduling isn’t one.

I sort of wish those dates were reversed. Average St. George Utah high in September is in the 90s. In November in the 60s.

I bet we'll have some fans making the trip via Las Vegas.

St. George UT is right in the middle of some of the most beautiful rock formations in the world. 90s in the high desert ain't bad.

When are UIUC, OU or NIU returning their games?

Yeah, this Dixie College deal is a big a blockbuster as that St X game.

:text-+1:

90's in that climate will be very nice . High of 90's in the desert means you will likely need a light jacket for the second half of a night game.

In 2026 we play NIU the week before we play Dixie State. Dixie State is the 3rd non-conference game that year. Not bad imo.

Lyons does a nice job with FBS IMO ... but a home and home with Dixie St .... why on earth would we do that, especially with EIU also still locked in ??

This makes no sense at all.

I'm almost sure Lyons doesn't really directly have his hands in scheduling. Before he left to be UIS' AD it was Peyton Deterding who was senior associate athletic director.

Though I do agree that the H/H with Dixie State is lame, I like the EIU game. One of the great things about football is its traditions. And the tradition of typically getting an easy win and a trophy to boot early in the season is fun. I like the noncon format (if we have 4 games) of: FBS, EIU, buy FCS, and H/H FCS. It gives our guys a variety of looks and an opportunity at wins early on. I never want to see any level lower than FCS on the schedule again unless it was a game for charity exhibition against IWU.

Being 1-AA, Illinois State is always going to have to fight to be taken seriously as an athletic dept. Scheduling H&H with teams fresh out of D2 only serves to remind people of just what little progress Illinois State has made with its football program since 1887. There are other schools in Utah that more closely resemble what football programs they should be aligning themselves with, Dixie State College of VCR Repair is not one of them. Frankly, it's embarrassing.

Montana State, Montana, UNI and South Dakota State are other programs who have set up H/H with Dixie State.

Exactly! These are the types of schools that should be aligning themselves with Dixie College of Chiropractic. The state university of the 6th most populous state in the country should be scheduling at a MUCH higher level, the fact that this is happening is a sign of miserable "leadership".

well this makes me wonder what they are doing economically to attract these 4 strong opponents for h&h games ... maybe this isn't as stupid as it seems ??
