Pretty terrible offensive performance so far but regardless how this ends up I think it was the right call to get Waring on the field. I hope the defense can hold up because it does not look as if they are going to get anything from the offense.
I honestly haven't seen any improvent with Waring on the field. It's our offensive line and the pocket that keeps breaking. It's not always the QB w we should be concerned about. Our offense has been struggling as of late but I am pretty proud of our defensive line as they've been hold this game for us (up until the 4th quarter.) Can only hope we can turn it around in OT!

Not a football expert but some observations anyhow. Philosophy was not to lose in the second half. Never ONCE threw the ball on first down. Offense just incredibly predictable ONE first down second half? Defense was unbelievable. But I’m OT forced to throw it downtown and voila a TD. ANYHOW I am pleased for the kids and a terrific win

@Redbird82 would love to hear your thoughts on the 87 passing yards today.
Watched the whole game and very happy we won. Crazily if we had not blown last week we would have a shot at postseason.
I know you don’t want a serious answer to your question, but it’s clearly not good enough. You can win a game when the defense is fantastic. But if we ever want to make deep runs in the playoffs you have to play both sides of the ball. Unless you have a world beater line line and RB you have to be able to pass

Just wanted to see if both QBs got the same treatment or just the one.

It's incredible it seems like a lot of you are disappointed that the Birds won. Great win over a great opponent. Great performance by Waring. Play calling limited what he was able to do often times. Put a ball right on the money to Nagel when it mattered most. Only took 2 sacks for 8 yards lost despite the pocket breaking down a lot of times. Great job escaping the pressure. 0 Turnovers. All as a RS Freshman QB. A lot of improvement from the last game he played against Missouri State with the 3 interceptions and 3 sacks. Looking forward to seeing what he can do next year if he wins the starting job.

Awesome job by Isbel jumping the pass for the pick six to put us in front. Great game from Zeke as well, he was all over the place.

So .... we get just 6 first downs and 135 total yards in regulation ... and BEAT THE 13th ranked team in FCS.

Not pretty, not playoff caliber football .. but very impressive to compete like this in a down year.

8 seniors and a sh-t ton of FR ... eh, feeling ok about 2022.

Now .. if only we could "throw it".

I think everyone is happy we won. And it’s a real nice win. We are just saying Spack has been so good the expectations are a playoff team and some years a good run in the playoffs. The offense we saw today and this year won’t accomplish that. It’s not just the QB the line and receivers could use an upgrade. The complaining at least from me isn’t about one game it’s bigger than that

Great win for the defense. Vandenburgh, West and Gomez were all impressive and Isbell made that INT with a cast on his hand. Yes, the offense was boring and frustrating, but I think they told Waring that he had one job - don't lose the game and DON'T TURN THE BALL OVER. He didn't. South Dakota and N. Iowa. The Redbirds can beat ranked teams if the offense doesn't turn the ball over and they don't put their defense in bind or give up points. Running Mueller straight ahead for 1 yard seldom results in a turnover. Obviously you won't be a great team doing that but this isn't a great offense or even a good one. Waring was able to extend the play with nimble rollouts away from pressure but even then he either couldn't find someone to throw to or he was running too hard to get off a good pass. So just when you think the offense is completely useless Waring tosses the winning TD to Nagel in OT.

Two more games on the schedule. The 'Birds will try to win with defense first, rushing second and passing if the other team really dares them to. Final note - the starting guards for the last couple of games Georgie and Mueller were both out. Day and Bussone replaced them. I'm not sure it made a big difference but we might have had a few more yards rushing with them in there.

That pass was perfect and the catch really good. I just wonder why that wasn’t seen earlier in the game. We played the entire 2nd half to not lose . . . and UNI had the ball and chance with time left in the 4th to win it. Not sure why they didn’t seem to have the sense of urgency to go after the win in regulation.

Great win In the end.

Great job in finding a way to win.

Now, in a play that didn't matter much in the end, why does replay exist? I'm talking about the unreviewed likely UNI fumble in their territory with 7:30 to go in the 4th quarter. I think I know what happened...our tackler makes contact with the runner where he's holding the ball. Ball lands at runner's feet with our guy recovering. Multiple players from both teams try to recover the ball. UNI knows what happened so they run a play quickly to avoid replay. Did we need to ask for replay?
