Why can’t mid majors rebel and establish their own post season tournament akin to the FCS football championship? We are now at the point that who really cares anymore about the NCAA tournament, it’s ever changing selection indicators, it’s ridiculous NIL allowance and portal transfers, and the Big 10 getting 8-9 tournament bids every year? The P5 is controlling the NCAA and as a result, the NCAA is a week and feckless governing body. We need a Spartacus inspired revolt.
I bet Drake cares about the NCAA. I bet Bradley cares about it. I bet they are not hoping for "FCS basketball" Only whiny programs that can't make it don't care. Indiana State? They got boat raced by a sh#%tty team, at home, the week they got recognized with the P5 schools! They deserve what they get. Just like we deserved what we got in 2017 when we lost by 40 (40!!) and 20 points (on national tv) to WSU.

Jokes aside I believe there is a good chance of us all being surprised (and disappointed) by at least one portal entry. I am saying that generically aka no idea who that may be. If pedon can keep the wanted players from portaling to one or less than we are off to a good start, imo. More than that then building a core team for next year is gonna take a lot of new portal players. Just how it is.

I am in the camp of keeping Lieb to provide valuable back up minutes. He seemed to provide value upon his injury return. Foster is the one I worry most about losing.

I am mixed on Burford…individual talent is there/real good but he drives me crazy when analyzing his team play. If he stays Pedon needs to break his individual style of play to become more of a team player….aka when he sees a player open who is in a position of strength move the ball to that player asap vs often choosing to pass to teammates only when his own individual ball/offensive options have been contained.

As for kinziger/walker it makes little sense, outside of some non-basketball related consideration, for them to transfer. They are both in an ideal position as they know the coach and they look to be set to play and develop next year. The following offseason is the one to worry about with those two.

I believe Darius would be better served in a program that offers an open floor style of play. He could probably go average 15-18 a game in that type of program. I don't think it's fair to ask him to stay and for him to possibly not be a starter.

Sometimes players just aren't good fits into a style of play and program. It's not that I dislike him, because I don't. I just think it's the wrong fit.

I could see Pedon sending hiim up to DePaul. I think that would be a good fit for both.

I've posted this on the board somewhere before - I can't see "sending" our leading scorer, for two years running, packing. Just because. Hard for me to see how he's a problem. At least a big problem that deserves being tossed aside. Guy missed 10 games this year and we coulda used him, IMHO. I'd love to see that little 12 footer in the lane a few more times next year.

Seeing the games in person...DB goes out...our offense looks quite improved, our team looks improved, and we go on a run. Comes back last 2 games...we look like previous 60 games. Non-efficient.

It's nothing personal. But that was proof in the pudding for me. Wouldn't bother me a bit though if he stayed and completely proved me wrong.

Maybe the “system” has to be flexible to play to the strengths of the players that are on the roster. Especially this day and age with the portal and NIL one may have to adjust their coaching style, scheme and system to fit the players one can attract to come to a struggling mid major program. I know people will say “ recruit the type of players for your system”, but one also needs to get the best ball players that will come here. It is a different world. Probably more comparable to junior high where your next year’s player pool is what is in sixth and seventh grade. No use complaining about the rules, they are what they are, and yes the big boys are going to take most of the good ones.

Burford can't play in the Big East! Lol! Well, maybe on an 0-20 team off the bench. Holtmann better be looking for WAY better than Burford! Burford isn't good enough to get us where we need to go! We have MAYBE 1 P6 starter on the current roster and that would be on a bottom of the conference team.

Systems are incredibly important but I say, it’s more on the player to learn and adjust to a system that benefits the whole team. It’s difficult to prove any point regarding this. Compatibility isn’t as easy to find as we think.

Injuries only count when you are a big school, not one of us smaller institutions. Indy St is toast. Should get a NIT bid after 5 more lil ten teams get in. bu might be outside the NIT bubble now. If you want to keep playing, grab your flip flops and sunscreen. Daytona baby!!!

I think if players make 3s in January and First 2 weeks of Feb it would have been a big difference. Pedon started running iso plays for Burford and Foster because most of the team was in a funk. They were passing up open shots and missing wide open ones when they did soot it. That's not Burford's issue. However, I will also acknowledge that his 3 point shot was off the entire year and a % much lower in prior years and he does need to drive and kick the ball out more often.

I personnaly hope he returns. I do agree that there are perhaps other offenses where he is better suited.

Who was out when ISU beat them? Kent got hurt in the middle of game. Was someone else out? I doubt missing Kent made them shoot 8-38 from 3 against a below .500 team. The question is. Will Indy St. lose a bid and their coach on the same day?
