What is kind of interesting is we spend the 2nd most on not allocated expenses in the MVC. I wish you could see the breakdown of this information. How much we spend on support staff/administration salaries vs. other schools, etc

North Dakota State University-Main Campus -12,453,529
Illinois State University - 9,915,505
South Dakota State University - 5,743,624
Bradley University - 5,595,284
Drake University - 5,135,496
Southern Illinois University-Carbondale - 4,509,429
Youngstown State University - 4,381,846
Loyola University Chicago - 3,927,926
University of South Dakota -3,848,056
University of Northern Iowa - 3,729,249
Indiana State University - 3,350,693
Western Illinois University - 3,326,080
Missouri State University-Springfield - 2,803,971
Valparaiso University - 2,687,233
Dallas Baptist University - 2,551,119
University of Evansville -2,004,705

Is that right For UNI? Seems a little low with a football budget.

This number is just “administrative” expenses. I wonder what is calculated in this.

I tried to do some research and based on an ISU salary database I found, ISU spends about $3.1 million on what according to title 9 reporting are considered administrator salaries (administrators, support staff, and non sport coaches salaries (strength and comditioning coaches).

SIU for similar positions was just over $2 million. They also have less people working in their athletic department.

We will never know what ISU spends on “administrative” costs, but it’s interesting it is so much more than almost anyone else.

It could be a combination ... we may spend more in this area or other schools are recording or allocating similar expenses directly to a programs budget.

Went through and found the budget numbers for teams in the NCAA Tournament.

Only 4 schools with a smaller budget were not a 14, 15, or 16 seed.

See Tucker Carlson’s take on staggering student loan debt on the Fox News website today. He attributes some of the cause to many universities adding unnecessary layers of administrative positions with questionable purpose or accountability, financed by ever increasing tuition.

The crazy thing is a I didn't realize that data was 2 years ago. I re-did this with the most up to date data.

3 schools with over $20 mil now.
University of Louisville - 21,817,723
Duke University - 20,826,848
Ohio State University-Main Campus - 20,653,121

The ISU basketball budget actually went down from 2016 to 2017. It was $2,311,466 in 2016 to $2,311,466 in 2017. Our basketball budget went down $102,335 than the previous year. We fell from 178 in the country to 187. Going the wrong direction with money.

Only 11 teams with a smaller budget than ISU in the tournament this year.
Illinois State University - 2,209,131
Murray State University - 2123603
University of Vermont- 1,992,602
Colgate University - 1,912,443
Fairleigh Dickinson University-Metropolitan Campus- 1,682,214
North Carolina Central University - 1,661,345
North Dakota State University-Main Campus - 1,611,189
Wofford College - 1,604,157
Abilene Christian University - 1,363,430
Yale University - 1,335,946
Gardner-Webb University 1,192,668
Prairie View A & M University 1,131,873
