Nice win, on the road, at Murray, not an easy place to play, the three point "problem" is no help. Not great matchups for us, so pulling it out was a struggle.

Nice numbers from the front line - Foster 10pts and 12 rebs, Lewis 11 and 8, Chase 12 and 4. CHASE WALKER WAS THE LEADING SCORER!!

Kinziger's getting a lot of praise on the board, he had a nice game, but his numbers weren't great, 1-6 from the field, 1-4 from 3. He's a liability on D lots of times, especially the way we switch. But damn he's nice to have out there, he's smart. I love to see him cheat on D, he has a great sense of how far he can drift off his man to help. He's tough above the shoulders. I hope he's here for a while and gonna grow into his slot. He's good. Still a ways to go.

I like Burford. I like his game.

Chase Walker, your table is ready.

Kasubke I can do without. To me, it isn't just that he's missing his shots, it's when he launches them. Not a very instinctive player, to me. Hard nose on D, but I'm not sure he's all that helpful there either.
.
What can we do to get Poindexter back on track??? Damn.

All in all, a nice game. Hollered at the TV a few times, but felt pretty good down the stretch!
Whether you believe in +/-, Kasubke was our best last night at +18 whereas Banks was our worst at -10. The former was surprising, the latter not so much.

Did anyone else notice at the end of the telecast Luke blowing about a half dozen kisses into the crowd? It was hard to "read" whether it was directed at MSU fans or some family/friends and the telecast did not show any others doing same. He was intent and persistent. Coming off the NSU storyline, I would hope not the latter.

Finally, I can imagine the Racer fans being tied in knots today. Back-to-back home court losses where they frittered away second half double-digit leads (55-35 with 13:10 left vs Salukis, 48-33 with 11:51 left vs. Redbirds). 25-3 finish by the dawgs, 28-11 finish by the birds. They visit the Panthers on Saturday. Steve Prohm cannot be feeling good right now.

Did Banks intentionally foul off the ball to send a 70% shooter to the line on their 2nd to last possesion? Even in their last possession they off a decent 3 point attempt.
I thought Banks was caught going into a screen. Given what the officials allowed to go uncalled during the game, that particular contact itself seemed ticky-tack.

He struggled from the field, but his heart and effort level are at the top of the chart. His dive to save the ball as Kazooski was content to watch it roll out of bounds was the play of the game. When he does get caught in a switch and the other team takes advantage of it, he'll sacrifice his body trying to prevent a bucket or fight for the board.

Now Buck Fradley!!!

It was sorority night and he's a college kid. I think he was just having some fun with the students that were certainly engaged throughout the game.

I noticed that before I posted my genius opinion - - but went ahead anyway. He only shot 3 treys last night, at least that was an improvement. I still don't like his game, but if he wants to step it up I'd be happy to start to like him.

Ah ha, Vidette answers the question as to why Walker didn’t play the 2nd half :)

What a game, hats off to the team and the coaching staff. The guys fought hard and didn't quit, they stayed the course.

Kinziger- Play of the game, the steal and dive was fun to see. He's not the tallest, not the quickest but he's a worker and he doesn't give up. The kid is a ball player and a winner.
Chase- Keep improving and the table is yours. Last night was just the appetizer for what you can do in a Redbird unifrom.
Burford and Foster- Did what they do. Both scored in double figures and Burford made plays again when we needed him to.
Lewis- Finally had the game from him that we need.

I've never seen as streaky shooting team as this team is. One point in the last 2 games we were 1/31 from 3, thats incredible. Murray was blitzing in the post and we just needed 1 guy to step up and make a shot. Once that came confidence started and we outscored Murray 28-11 the last 12 minutes of the game.

Lets get Redbird Rocking on Saturday. IT SUCKS TO BU!!!

I would like to see a LOT more Kinzinger & Walker - and less of Lewis & Banks. I can see Foster & Walker becoming a tandem like Lamb & Cornley

That play was so odd in the moment. Luke poked it away maybe 5 or so feet away from the sideline he seemed content to just let it go out of bounds (I don't know why). Enter Johnny who was having none of that and makes a great play.
Coaches decision. Seems odd.
Unfortunately, we've been in a situation- needing a second half double digit comeback- so many times this year, you start to see themes with Pedon. One of them, is testing line ups and when he finds one that works, he doesn't deviate from it. Down the stretch and during the comeback, it really went to a 7, really 6, mostly 5 man rotation. Chase played an incredible first half. Just shy of 12 minutes on the game, 12 points, 4 boards, only 1 foul and drew 3. I really look forward to seeing his growth.

For the first time this year, I think Johnny took two bad shots. There was an unbalanced three and jumper that were very unlike him. He'll figure it out.

It's amazing how even being a slightly below average 3pt % team makes these dudes look so much more competent. I had said last year that it was an establishment year, and the goal for this year is to be middle of the pack. We're trending in that direction but still have a ton of tough games left 2 against BU, at SIU, and INST at home. Let's continue to see some growth and threes drop.

This is the clearest sign to me Foster is gone IMO. This person is clearly related.
I'm sure this must have been sarcasm because you couldn't have come to the conclusion that @Hootyhoofan is clearly related to Foster because he/she shared information that is common knowledge about NCAA transfer rules, right? I could have shared the same thing if someone asked, only I might have said that the student could transfer a second time if they graduated by the end of the summer instead of spring.

Reasonable speculation over sarcasm is probably more appropriate. Twenty total posts...

Foster's rebounding, Foster's rotation on his shot, Foster shooting more 3's, Foster's follow-through on his free throws, Foster needing more touches, telling someone to shut up for saying Foster needs to stop shooting 3's, Foster being All-MVC, not caring that people don't like Foster shooting 3's, saying it will be a party when Foster makes a 3, claiming they're a big fan of Foster's game and he should be all league, posting Foster's stats from the portal report about his efficiency, asking if Foster could be All-MVC, posting Foster as the top transfer sleeper from Twitter, and finally clarifying his transfer status for next year.

I don't know, Doug. Maybe you're right. Could just be a giant Myles Foster fan.

It's reasonable to believe all of the guys listed as seniors or RS seniors that have eligibility could grad transfer. It's standard that it takes 4 years to get an under grad degree not including taking classes over the summer, which basketball players are required to in order to participate in sanctioned, team workouts. Luke, Mal, Dalton, Darius, Jordan, Brandon, Sissoko, and Foster could all be finishing their undergrads this semester or over the summer and play elsewhere, should they choose to do so.

I do not doubt that Foster must be catching the eye of a number of teams in power conferences with larger NIL budgets to recruit players. He could easily be identified as a key contributor to a more filled out roster looking for someone with his skills. I have no idea what his relationship is with coach Pedon, how much he likes being at Illinois State however I do know he's not from central Illinois and I don't believe he has any ties to our community.

Regarding Hooty's comment, he doesn't need to be a giant fan of Foster to make it. I would have made a similar comment with the exception that I believe you can graduate in the summer and then transfer, as long as the graduation is before transferring to the new school. I believe we've had this specific discussion on here, that's all.

I’ll bet if I pull footage I’m sure we could find him blowing kisses to local coeds at a campus watering hole, too.

File this one away with when RBF.net tried to divine the meaning of Tyler Brown’s “we on the oils” (paraphrasing) tweet over a decade ago.
