Oh I would not put him down there full time. Just saying that is just one of his skills we are not taking advantage of. I agree he is a wing player with ball handling and passing skills. But when he does go down low he scores or draws fouls. Prior to last couple of games he was getting to FT line. None last night He’s a triple threat kind of player

MY reminds me of Zack Lofton. Attitude problems. Head strong. Willful. Overly emotional. Butting heads with coaches. Out of control at times. Talented.

DM tries to get them to buy in and make them better players and young men. They huff and puff and pout. They bolt. Then, after they have transferred to team after team and grow up a bit they realize that DM was doing them a solid the entire time. It is the same everywhere -- a coach expects you to play within the system and be a team player and play both ends especially the defensive end. But after they figure it out, other downstream teams reap the benefit.

Can you imagine how Donewald or Stallings would have handled MY?

I sure wish MY would stay but I understand the process.

Donewald would have handed him a bus ticket home. That’s exactly what he did with a player that I went to ISU with. And that was just for skipping one class. That player didn’t repeat that mistake and went on to be an all time great.
Todd Starks mouthed off one game (DePaul I believe) his junior year and he was gone. That '88 team was supposed to be decent but Starks was dismissed and Taphorn was hurt a good portion of the season. Hello NIT.

If Milik was a solid 2nd round pick, coming from a midmajor, I would take a chance and leave. Even with no guarantees.

Still a long time before that is determined, but at the very least he declares. Why wouldn't you?

(almost 4 to's per game, though) (and that's with him missing significant minutes in several games)

I think MY needs to come back for his final year at ISU. He could have a great year in the Valley and dominate and put up some good numbers. Also, it could be a good place to work on some of his weaknesses in a familiar environment. Some are already saying the Birds will be very good next year and rightfully so as long as everyone returns and Copeland and Chastain hit the floor.

Ask Rico Hill how it went being a second rounder.

I agree with CB2K.

I'm not sure 16.8, 7 and 5 is going to do it on draft day when they look at the Valley. I mean, Bradley is 17-7 right now.

If he came back next year and did 16, 10 and 5, THEN you sneak into top 20. Then you get paid.

Id hate to see him on like the D-League afterthought team making $50k a year for 2 years and get no degree to show for it.

Not sure about Rick, but Rico had a pretty doggone good and long professional career. His early 2nd round status opened some of those doors. That's a fair argument, don't you think?

Listen, I'm ALL for Milik sticking around and having a GREAT year. All for it. Plus if we win, that makes him more attractive. I personally don't see him getting drafted at this point. But...in today's world, if you're being spoken of as a second rounder and actually get drafted, you probably have a good earning professional career ahead of you. From a midmajor standpoint...it would be hard to turn down an opp to get drafted and get a shot at making a NBA roster. (In other words, if he gets drafted in 2nd round - not saying he will but if he does - he'll go to preseason camp. Not just summer league. But more than likely, preseason camp)

Dangle that carrot in front of a player, that's hard to turn down.

If I recall, wasn't Jackie C ""projected" to go in the mid to late second round?

The problem with these mock drafts is they don't show NBA teams salary situations. Many will take euros in the second knowing they aren't coming over for a couple years or if at all. One appeal is the GLeague is paying more and becoming more of a legitimate feeder system.

Wouldn't surprise me. He and Dan clearly don't see eye to eye. They are primed for the tournament next year (just like this year), just like before Lynch left (turned out to be blessing), and before Moore left. Somebody always leaves right before were supposed to be good. Its really quite crazy how it always happens. Cursed. I hope he stays but I give it about a 1% chance at this point.

I really hope the speculation regarding Milik is wrong. He is the type of player this program needs to get back into the spotlight.

References to Donewald and Stallings in this thread are not realistic. Times have changed. If you manage people at all or have any years in management, you should know that the ways of motivating and retaining staff has changed a ton over the last 30 years. If you are an elite program that everyone wants to "work" for then maybe your harsh style will still work, but if not, then you better adjust. The coaches that adjust and know that different players are motivated differently and young people today are not motivated maybe the same way in the past will succeed. Those that don't are destined to fail and lose quality players.

I do not believe we are cursed. I am amazed that we still get some super high caliber players. But I am not surprised that we do not retain them and being cursed has nothing to do with it. Leadership, environment, opportunity and winning/losing has everything to do with it. ISU athletics in general is on a downward trajectory. Basketball is certainly at or near the low watermark since I have been following them for 45 years. Yes we have had some down years in the past but the program recovered and got national recognition. Over the past 20 years basketball has been in a freefall and not only surpassed by our own football program, but surpassed and far exceeded by teams that were not even on the national radar 20 years ago. Someone better wake up or losing a high quality player will be the least of our worries.

I don't think a maybe 2nd round projection is enough for him to leave for the pros. I wouldn't be surprised if he put his name out there to get feed back and then came back and attended a few camps over the summer, and improved it.

In my opinion he needs to work on his dribbling and make his jump shot more consistent. If he does that next year, I think he would be a draft lock.

That's what I see happening. Needs to work on his outside shot. If he could hit that at a higher clip then I think he is a first round lock.

58th is... awfully close to not drafted. I expect him to do quite a few NBA prep camps this summer and explore options, but I don't think he is going anywhere this year given he "might" be the 58th out of 60 players drafted, ESPECIALLY if he wins Valley POY, which I think he probably will.
