For basketball, I think ISU should start it's own conference with less teams. Chicago State, Northwestern State, Alcorn State, Idaho, Central Arkansas, Binghamton and Central Connecticut State. Those are some of the worst teams I could find. This should increase our chances of making the tournament again. Adding more good teams only makes it more difficult for us.
I know some high school football coaches/ADs who schedule their non-conference that way to get into the playoffs. Then they get their ass handed to them in the first round.😉 But hey, they made the playoffs!

I know an AAC coach that resides in Dallas that schedules that way, as well!

I was being facetious. I do think the ISU scheduling has very little to do with the Redbirds current basketball problems. I remember getting upset that the Valley was used as a stepping stone for good coaches. Now the Valley is being used as a stepping stone for good teams.
