Refresher on Zach Annexstad - he got some good PT as a freshman at Minnesota in 2018, then he sat on the bench for 3 years w/o any real PT. He missed the entire 2019 season with injury, sat on the bench the entire 2020 season w/o injury just not used, and then got in two games in 2021 w/o throwing a pass or making a rush attempt. So while I'm all for getting a guy who's got a record of accomplishment at whatever level, DIII or DII or DI, we have a pretty good example of how a guy who "got lost" on an FBS bench can be pretty damn effective for old state U.

I'm happy if young Rittenhouse can hold off the challenge and do his thing, would make fourthandshort happy that a HS QB recruited by Spack finally comes through. But if Mr. Rubley makes it happen, good for him. We'll need two QB's one way or the other, history has shown.
This. Another example would be the GOAT himself, Tom Brady. Rubley spent 3 years at K. St. I invite you to check out how much Brady played his first 3 seasons at Michigan. Let the QB competition begin.

Agreed. Regardless of who starts as QB1, I wouldn't be surprised if both players start a game(s) throughout the season. In fact, I would almost predict it. That could be due to injury or changing up the offense, etc.

I also wouldn't be surprised to see Tommy as QB1 in 2024 with Rubley taking over in 2025 after having a full year learning the system. Similar things have happened. I love what Tommy brings but may the best QB win! Having a competition at QB is a good thing.

ISU has been in the market for a class of 2024 QB recently. Even a mere two hours before Rubley committed publicly, they offered a 2024 out of Bradley Bourbonnais. It seems like the guys they have been after have been some of the more "overlooked" guys. I'm not sure if these are PWOs or if they are scholarship offers that may close now that we have a 5th QB. It will be interesting to see if Kaplan sticks. I've seen him around at some of the basketball games hanging out with teammates.
