An exciting class coming in and now a couple promising B10 guys that fills some needs. Agreed with Humdinger, the returnees must get better too - not just in-game, but stronger physically. Just improving hands and protecting the ball makes the team noticeably better. The new blood coming in is encouraging. Make everyone better by committee. Are we still probably a year away? Yes. Will we be significantly better than last season? Should be. Let's get to work.

Glass half full (drinking the Redbird kool-aid) guy here🙂
I’ve seen a great number of players improve vastly between their Junior-Senior year. I really believe that with one year of Coach P and Judson under their belt that Malachi, Darius, Luke, and Kendall are going to be much better players in 2023-24. I think that if Lieb, Davis, and Banks turn out to be solid players the Redbirds can be top four and avoid Thursday.
I think that the incoming freshman class will help push the players in front of them in fear of them losing their minutes. I think that Sissoko and Schmitt will improve over last season (how much remains to be seen).
I’m not sure that I see four MVC teams that have either retained players and/or bringing in proven transfers/recruits that put them as solid top four finishers. If so, I would be interested in hearing who/why???

With the jumbled mess that was the top of the Valley, I don't know about top 4 (since it felt like one last second shot was the difference between 2nd and 7th). Since more teams play on Thursday now than get the bye, I think Top 6 should be the goal, so we not playing a 1 or 2 seed on Friday once we win. I'm also thinking, a win @ Valpo would go a long way to saying we've turned a corner. I love the price of tickets there, but I hate that every time they fricken lose.

It seems that the signings so far have brought about an infusion of defense, passing ability and ball handling represented by a much needed big, added length, depth and even a positive work ethic (from what I have gathered from the various media describing these new additions). These are areas that either were lacking or negatively impacted due to the paucity of depth on last year's squad.

If they can improve their defense and reduce their turnovers with the additions of these players then this will make this team much more competitive where their capacity to turn those closely fought games from losses into victories will undoubtedly increase. How many more wins would there have been if turnovers and defense were at a higher level? There were too many close games that got away from them because of these very things.

I like the focus that coach is making in terms of trying to shore up the areas of weakness from last year. That shows me that he has a plan and a type of player he is seeking to execute that plan. Has the team improved? -- time will tell but we are moving in the right direction.

I hopeful that having a full staff will help Pedon focus on in-game coaching. The new assistant will take some workload off of everyone which should allow for some additional mentorship with Judson and Pedon.

On paper, I like what he's brought in. I will stress, I'm really hoping he doesn't pocket the final scholarship. Of course, don't fill it just to fill it but they need another body for true post depth. Right now, it's Lieb, Walker and Schmitt. I feel like foul trouble will plague the bigs, especially early on in the season. We know Schmitt is a step slow, though plays the position fundamentally well, Walker is going to take time to catch up to speed of the college game and I'd imagine Lieb will too having been mostly a practice player at his previous stop. As of now, if those three get into foul trouble, you're looking to Sissoko and Lewis at the 5 spot. We know Sissoko is foul prone as well. After those five total players who could be considered "posts" who else could drop down if needed? Luke? Pence? Davis?

Anyway, I'm hoping for one more big to round out what seems to be a solid class of '23.
I agree 100% with not pocketing it. With how you can get 1-year rentals, it’s worth finding someone to fill it. If not that, give it to a walk-on for a year. Even if you find someone like Teddy Hawkins in the sense of a player who was pretty effective at guarding bigger guys (ex Shaq Morris) or a guy like Will Ransom or Brandon Sampay, having the additional player on the roster will be helpful at some point.

A sort of brief story from the Madison paper about Mr. Davis. Some interesting stuff about his recruitment, what Pedon told him, etc. I have tried to follow the "if you can't say something nice, shut up" approach to his arrival, after watching him for a couple years in Madison, ultimately falling out of the starting lineup, losing his spot to a skinny freshman. I'll be very happy if he finds himself under Coach Pedon. Sounds like he's got his mind right anyway, at this point.

More guards,we need more players under 6,5"...who needs a low post players when you can shoot 3's and win every game. That worked so well last season😂

The article says we were picked 3rd in the conference for this year. How is that possible?
This pre season "mid major" top 40 has us as the 2nd MVC team listed.
