Amen, brother. We’re setup to do that. I’m camped out on STL to FAR tickets for weekend of 10/3.

I stopped being impressed after 3 national championships at the FCS level. Now every championship NDSU wins just reminds me of a full grown adult hanging out with high school kids...

Once again NDSU is the best team and the Valley is clearly the best conference. That means SIU did get screwed and it's a joke that the Redbirds were considered one of the last teams to get in. So the selection committee will learn from this and do better next time?
Nah, this has been going on for years. The selection committee members will continue to embarrass themselves.

If you include the playoffs I have to wonder if anyone played a tougher schedule than Illinois State? Nine of our 15 games were played on the road and we had to play a FBS team and the #1 FCS team twice.

I'm probably being too hard on the selection committee. To a large extent their hands are tied by the automatic qualifiers. I'm not sure every conference have a should have a team included.

I thought immediately that SIU got screwed. If you're gonna penalize ISU for finishing poorly, then give SIU credit for finishing strongly. But I was more angry at ISU for letting SEMO outbid them for a playoff game.

I also thought SIU deserved a bid, but I didn't feel like they were being screwed for sure. I think at the time of selection, the 2 teams that had at least and equal case were 7-4 SELA and 8-4 Furman. In playoffs .... SELA beat 9-3 Villanova by 1 at home and then got destroyed by 9-3 Montana 73-28. And Furman lost badly at APU 42-6, plus Furman was clearly slipping as Wofford was climbing late in SoCon.

But given how well MVFC did in playoffs overall, it now looks more obvious that we should have had 5 teams and SIU was playing very well late in season.

But this is based on fair amount of hindsight IMO, because MVFC was not looking real strong going into playoffs. UNI and ISU fell off later in season, largely due to toll of injuries on offense. And SDSU wasn't looking as dominant late .. they lost a QB too, plus the MVFC grind probably. And our lower one-third of teams were probably the worst they've been in 10 years. So it seemed like MVFC was having a down year.

But then the playoffs proved otherwise in our upper half. In particular, ISUr and UNI getting to quarters with so many injuries, and giving the 2 best teams for sure their hardest games of playoffs.

So hopefully the committee will remember, that even in what looked like a down year, the MVFC dominated the playoffs again. And in hindsight for sure, 7-5 SIU should have gotten a bid over 7-4 SELA or 8-4 Furman. SOS is easliy worth 1 game in the W-L record.

The thing that sticks out the most to me is NDSU throws 10 passes in the national championship game with the walter payton award winner at QB. To me it just proves how good the valley is. Congrats to NDSU. Watching the CAA lose always makes me smile.

I wonder if the NDSU fans are mad they only threw ten passes?!

HAHA nice meme. I said that because if you go back and read the NDSU fans had a few guys ripping ISU for not having a passing game before they played us in the quarters. They weren't wrong! but then they used that model to win it all.

so ironically true !!!

But I think they saw something in JMU run defense, which was #1 in FCS ... I was surprised they ran QB Lance so much (30 carries for 166 yards) and their RBs so little (maybe 10-12 carries). JMU clearly did not spy him very well at all .. by comparison, we held QB Lance to 11 carries for 41 yards, and he got 19 on one carry .. though he did convert three 3rd and longs with his legs on us .. we completely stuffed him otherwise.

We need to remember this about JMU if we run into them in playoffs next year. Though offensively, we aren't nearly the multi-dimentional threat that Bison are. Still, it is worth noting how much damage QB Lance did against JMU with his legs .. and they never adjusted.

If NDSU moved up to FBS, how many years would it take them to win the Mountain West? I'm guessing...two.

8 National Titles in 9 years with 3 different Head Coaches and 3 different QBs. Kudos to the Bison for performance that will likely never be seen again on any level in any sport. The question that came to me was, "Can anyone in FCS ever beat the Bison?" Frankly, I am not sure there is any team in all of FCS that can except for the occasional game now and then. 9 years, 3 different Head Coaches and 3 different QBs and there is not a small glitch in their get-a-long. ISU played them tough in the playoffs but they do what they have to do to win. Does not matter if it is 9-3 or a blowout...they adapt and do what they have to do to win. Their new Head Coach just won the National Title, their QB is in his first year...so who can beat them?
Recruiting for them has to be absolutely zero heavy lifting. All the recruiters have to say to a top level FCS talent is, "Do you want to win a National Title?" If they do...there appears to be only one place to go. Everyone else is in the dust.
A good thing for ISU is being in the MVFC. A bad thing is they will likely have almost no chance to win a Conference Championship. I don't mean to sound doom and gloom but for all of FCS this is not much speculation...just look at the numbers.

The difference is ISU ran because they HAD to. NDSU ran because they WANTED to. They did have 3 other pass plays that resulted in DPI fouls.

Three things I want to see in the spring:
1. Update on the health status of both Davis and Pryor.
2. How the backups at both positions perform.
3. How does the LB situation look?

This .. our game plan during playoffs is not sustainable against top tier defenses .. many of which playin MVFC. SEMO and UCA are not know for run defense.

We need to shore up our pass game ... and now Robinson is gone. We've got some work to do offensively in 2020 if we expect another playoff run. And our WR group looks to be ahead of our RB group. Translates .. we need our pass game to develop and help us move chains to take pressure off run game.

Regarding your #1 .. also want an update on Ridgeway. The dude came into his own as season progressed. Looking forward to seeing him and our entire 2 deep DL returning next year ... they are all back, 1st and 2nd string.
