I think just because someone is close to a situation, doesn’t make them a ‘handler’. And that term is pretty overused and outdated anyway.
ISU was the lowest Net rating team to offer him. Probably his worst offer and he was never coming there anyway, ever.
So why are you so upset that ISU and their clueless horrible staff/program stopped recruiting him? If he was never coming here ever anyway then ISU moving on shouldn’t be a problem at all. Smart move actually.

Dont hate, he is a top 3 player in the state. In a day and age where high school kids are not being recruited, 7 D1 offers is amazing! Been know as one of the top bigs in the Midwest since starting high school. Top 30 center in the nation by ESPN and 24/7.

ISU was the lowest Net rating team to offer him. Probably his worst offer and he was never coming there anyway, ever.
So he was never coming here, yet you continue to post and blast the program? Makes sense.

And you still haven't explained why you took an unnecessary shot at Walker.

I can tell you that ISU was drooling over Jaheem until he left the Wolves. Jaheem lost 25 lbs and had a great summer, hence the 7 D1 offers. ISU dogged him for leaving the Wolves and proclaimed that they did not want him because he was not starting for Mid Pro over Hank Alvey.

Now both Jaheem and Hank are heading to better programs. Literally Pedon said to Jaheem "Hank Alvey is starting over you, what's going on with you". Well, they were both high level D1 recruits, duh. Who cares who starts. Hank was there from day 1, Jaheem came in the middle of the season, the both dominated the summer NY2LA circuit.

Recruiting kids based on if they start in AAU is ridiculous. ISU cant get any in-state kids and that's where it starts, especially in Illinois with all the talent here.

Pence is there because of his girlfriend, nothing to do with recruiting efforts and he transfers out after any kind of success at ISU.

Pedon proclaimed that his goal was to get the local talent and he has not even come close.

Good luck ISU.
You seem close, so I'm not disputing direct quotes. I have my doubts it accurately portrays the context of the comments or any other dialogue that took place. Are there reasons Jaheem left the Wolves? This feels really one-sided, and rightfully so given your relationship, but faulting ISU for how they recruit - something Pedon has done for 20+ years - because of your personal experience comes off as petty instead of factual. Stating ISU can't get in-state kids and then talking about Ty Pence, an in-state kid, is an odd way to disprove your own point. Jaheem isn't a top-3 player in the state. He isn't even a top-3 player in Central Illinois. Think it best if you log off the ISU board and focus on Jaheem and Wright State instead of fighting online because Pedon hurt your feelings.

Show this thread to the staff, they will know exactly who I am and they will remember our conversations well. Jaheem made a business decision to leave the Wolves, no big deal.

Also, I said Pence is here because of his girlfriend which is very well known around basketball circles.

I'm sorry that you are hurt because you didn't land Big J. He may be the best player in the state, stay tuned...
I promise I'm not hurt. I don't think he is that good. You do. Like you said, "no big deal." I'm not impressed by his game and I don't think it translates to college and I don't anticipate it working out at Wright State. Maybe I'll be wrong. I guess we will see.

NET Rankings of offers:

Wright State: 197
Bradley: 78
Cal Poly: 311
Eastern Illinois: 345
Illinois State: 283
Loyola (MD): 319
SIU: 122

Illinois State may not be "Duke or Kansas" but I doubt I have to order my Webber McDonald's All-American jersey based on the murderer's row of schools there.

Best of luck to Jaheem hope it works out, sometimes going away is best and works out better. ISU went a different direction, hope it works out for both parties. Shots at innocent kids who aren't a part of this isn't going to do anything or take it back. Regards to Pedon and company they were in the 1st year of a rebuilding year and now going into year 2 as a ISU fan I am hoping we recruit kids that fit his profile for his system, you can't fit a square peg in a round hole.
Wright State may have had a higher NET then ISU did last year but the MVC had a down year and the MVC still finished with a NET of 15 compared to the Horizon League at 21.

That dude "negril" sounds butt hurt. I have seen Jaheem play up close. He isn't as physical as that guy makes him out to be. I wish him the best- but he better live up to the hype. I might want to add- I have coached against him and won 3 games. We never had to double team him- even though we were somewhat undersized.

Why is the Webber commitment notice still up. He's gone move on to a better player.
Well . . . We don’t just delete a thread because a kid we offered chose to go elsewhere. We do change the prefix from “Offered” to “ Offered - Committed Elsewhere” . . . and we remove the sticky so it doesn’t stay up top. And if you don’t like that people continue to post on the thread, you can always choose not to read it or post on it.

For some context, a Google search of that username will let you know why they are so defensive of Jaheem.

Thanks for the research, but here is some context for you! Haha! Good luck Birdies!

Don't like to gloat much do ya? Anyways best of luck to Jaheem but 1 game doesn't show how this season or next year will turn out when Jaheem is a freshman.

C’mon, man, you’re making yourself look like a fool . . . and, worse, like Jaheem is a kid we wouldn’t want to root for, because you’re proving to be somebody we don’t want to root for. If this is how you acted during the recruitment process, maybe it wasn’t Jaheem that Pedon might have backed away from. Daddy handlers are the worst.

Don't worry about rooting for him, he has a ton of love and support and is going to be a star at the next level. His folks are wonderful people and have a great relationship with Pedon. I however love gloating as much as possible! Root for the Birds, they need all they can get.

Hey, I'm close to big J and his family. Call me an uncle if you would. If I offended any of you, I'm sorry. The recruiting game can be ugly and I really did hear some things that I did not like regarding conversations that he had with the staff.
Ah the old "just call me an uncle" kind of friend. Derrick Rose had those too, as do must big time recruits. Usually, they aren't looking at what the recruits' best interest are, just $$$$$.

Good luck to him and to you. Hope he gets that bag.

When it came down to it, big guy did not bite on their last push to get him to commit. Then they requested a meeting (which J did not want to attend) just to tell him that he did not impress them in the summer. This after he played the best ball of his life and dropped 25 lbs. They also advised that they had "a lot" of good players at his position (LOL!) almost indicating that he would not be good enough for them. Well...you all see how that's going with the big's this year.

To gloat about the Wright St game just validated a lot for me. To see the team who thought they were too good for my guy get blown out by the team he signed with was awesome. Not just beat them but showed to be on another level as a program. Showed me that big fella made a great choice and is going to a far better program. Showed me that whatever they said to him in that meeting was B/S.

But lets leave this on a cordial note. I've met Pedon, good guy. Lets see what he can do.
So they made a last ditch push, but in this last meeting told him he wasn’t good enough. Sounding more and more like an idiot each post. I sincerely hope Jaheem got his brains from his mother rather than you or his “uncle”.
