Yeah, thanks as well for sharing that link. Not gonna be worth a damn at work tomorrow, but momma told me I would have days like that.
Total Red said:I watched a replay of the game last night and I think the coaches will enjoy watching the film as well because it's NOT that good. Coach Spack can smile with a 16 pt. win over a FBS program but there will be plenty to work on this week because lots of opportunities were missed.
Davis was under 50% passing (14 for 29). Some of that was on the receivers and some of it was on him. As noted he can complete difficult passes that require a strong arm but he can sometimes miss on easier touch passes. Lots of missed tackles on defense. Devin Taylor won the MVFC defensive player of the week award. That's a surprise because had good plays and bad. Nice Int stepping in front of the receiver but a bad pass interference play when he didn't turn a look for the ball. Overall I'd say our corners held up very well because that was the strength of the Ram attack. CSU isn't a great team defensively and their run game isn't deadly, but they did come into the game rocking a first-rate passing game with boastful numbers.
So Coach Spack can do the Nick Saban thing in practice this week and be grouchy in victory. He can tell his team, "hey don't get full of yourselves because you left a lot of plays out there and you're NOT as good as you could and should be."
Maybe he can come up with a catchy phrase for that. I know, he can call it "The Relentless Pursuit of Perfection."

The ONLY way to stop a guy going that fast with that much space is to run dead at him. If you hesitate and try tackle off to the side, you are dead in the water.
He only adjusted his course like 2 degrees, but the safety was so far away when it happened and Robinson was going so fast, he had to flat out guess and lunge at any first movement.

It's safe to say they are extremely upset at being pushed around by a lowly FCS. Gotta admit, I agree with a lot of what they're saying about their coaching staff. We get zero credit from them for being a good football team. Just thought I would share.
Exactly! I’m sure most of you played football, but on the defensive side in open field (as a player who’s been there) if he’d made that tackle, either he luckily made the right guess on the move, or he’s NFL worthy right now. I think eagle eye view of a game slows it down over 50%; on the field JR’s figuratively moving like lightning at that point. Great point TR.Total Red said:fourthandshort said:Watch the safety give up on that play ... he wanted nothing to do with getting trucked in open field ... watch the replay and how the safety turns into some old rickety grocery store turnstile .. spack would bench that guy for couple games for giving up like that.
I didn't see it as lack of effort. I saw a defender that was frozen because he's weighing his options in a microsecond and none of them are good. The O-Line gave Robinson a great opening to burst through and like the veteran he is Robinson knows what to do next. Finish off the lone survivor! He knows he has a man directly in front of him but time/space and momentum are all on his side. He doesn't need to stutter step or make a dramatic move. He just veers slightly to his left and continues his acceleration. If the defender reacts perfectly he might have lunged and caught a foot but really his fate was sealed when Robinson confidently went with a subtle but deadly effective high velocity move.
