I think we need to push for the creation of a new conference based on places I like…

Miami
UNLV
St John’s
DePaul
Hawaii
UNC EWU
Univ. of Texas
Pepperdine

Make it happen.
FIFY .. EWU for UNC, then mapquested it. Wouldn't let me do Hawaii ... but that only makes it even better idea.

p.s. this route assumes we can only afford bus trips to all accept Hawaii

What will those in Buffalo be excited about when they book their trip to Bloomington/Normal?

We’ll get an extra folding table for @Cindy00 gailgate and set it on fire for them to jump on; they should feel right at home.

Just asking questions in multiple directions.

1. Why move up, spend the time and money if the power however many ( really only the power 2) are going to continue to break free from everyone else and have their own national college football championship playoff?
2. What is ISU specifically and the MVFC as a whole doing to make sure we are in the elite FCS programs that get into the NC AA college football national playoffs when everyone else outside the power whatever are re-grouped into the non power elite level?
3. Looks to me some FCS programs are leaving because they cannot compete in a national playoffs against the MVFC and the Montanas and Eastern Washington.
4. I believe college realignment will not be done until weaker programs get voted off the power however many island.
5. Politicians and courts get involved and it all becomes a jumbled mess.
6. My opinion, make the moves now to be in the best position to get into the realigned top NCAA division when the power however many blow the whole thing up.

You being up many valid points. But before schools like UCF, James Madison, Liberty University,Western Kentucky or even Appalachian State moved up to the FBS level, no one ever heard of them before nor cared. Now most of the college football enthusiast, know who they are because they have been successful, have been on national broadcast on ESPN CBS ABC NBC and with that more alumni money, more football scholarships, corporate sponsorship and improve facilities.
I personally know many football fans that watch all college football and they really have no idea who North Dakota State or South Dakota State but know James Madison because all the air time they were given about being 10-0, and what bowl they should be in before finally losing a game. And they just moved up the FBS. Yes there will be growing pains, but ISU will reap the same rewards with a bigger footprint on a national stage. Which will ripple down through the rest of the other sports programs and get better athletes and more recognition even for the lowly MBB program. In conclusion, ISU is only one of two universities in the state that are growing in enrollment and should take advantage of the financial opportunities that the university could benefit from.

Agree Mark...but ISU enrollment has been flat a very long time. Lets hope the plan is for growth esp with addition of the new Engineering program. UIUC and UIC are the only two publics that have been growing. Both illinois publics have grown dramatically the last 20 years despite, the arguments made by some, that politicians would prohibit public ISU from measured growth because of failing EIU and WIU, does not make sense to me. State of Illinois is much better off with a strongly positioned ISU that competes for students across state lines with many institutions much stronger than EIU and WIU.

??? Sam Houston and JMU both won national championships during the last 8 years. Economics and national exposure/prestige driving moves from fcs to fbs similar to the massive fbs conference realignment over the past many years.
