Stop shooting them for now. I know that makes it that much easier/predictable to defend.

But we've tried long enough to "shoot our way out of it"

Play Chase more. He's offensive skill set is tasty.

His size can be very useful on double/follow-screen stuff to set up cuts to mid-range or the bucket for our bad-beyond-the-arc wing players.

The portal is part of the problem. Everyone on this team is from the portal other then the 3 freshman and Sissoko. Only guys he's hit on the portal is Burford and Foster. Right now Pedon and staff is 2/8 in the portal so good for a batting average of .250 in the portal. If we are going to recruit the portal you have to win the portal, you just can't recruit the portal bc we aren't having success in it.
I would argue that Evansville and Valpo who are starting 2 and 3 freshman are ahead of where we are bc they didn't recruit the portal and went with freshman, D2 and juco kids. Even Indiana State went went with D2 kids to follow Schertz to Indiana State and look where they are. If you recruit the portal you need to win it and so far this coaching staff isn't winning in the portal and it shows.

And lost one of the best players in the country to the Portal.

To be successful at this level in the future you are going to have to be prepared to lose your best player every year. The success comes from how you recruit to fill the hole left behind.

How much do we want to hold his first year portal pick ups against him? Let’s not forget he putting together the staff immediately as the portal opened. We now know he was doing it down an assistant coach in Offutt. While it would’ve nice to hit more he did do better with the talent he brought in just this past year. Banks has been better than last game. He has to be more consistent. Jordan Davis has been coming on strong and Foster is a monster. Im hoping next year is another big step up in talent.

Evansville is in the exact same boat as us and is getting a mixed bag of results. They also had to replace an assistant really quick and are in year 2. While it’s slower than any of us want we shouldn’t get too upset this year.

Reeves was gone whether Muller was still coaching or not. Pedon shouldn’t have been caught off guard that he wasn’t able to retain Reeves. Clearly, it was the right move for Reeves and that’s not a knock on Muller or Pedon.

Is this true though? Offutt was hired in March 2022 and was with the team until at least October of that year. Wouldn't all of Pedon's first-year portal acquisitions have been signed that late spring/summer while Offutt was still with the team?

Agree. You also have to understand that the transfers we get are not the same kind of transfers P6 programs are getting.
In other words, P6 portal players are likely very good mid major players interested in moving up to enhance their potential NBA status.
The players low level programs like ours get are typically kids not good enough to play at their respective P6 programs.
I think we’d be enter off looking more at the juco players or lower level (D2, D3) players that have something to prove instead of targeting P6 players not good enough that are just hoping to get minutes at a program like ours.

If the rumor I heard is true then it was a fractured relationship before we ever were made aware. So, yes, I question what he actually did.
