Most importantly Tim is a Champaign Central grad not centennial. If you are looking for a character kid, you don’t get much better character than Tim Finke. Not sure where Tim will end up, but he can be a very good contributor in the right situation. I have seen Bradley pop up from a few people as a possible destination.

Finke was a 4-star recruit . . . I'd say he'd be worth at least a flyer . . .

The 6-foot-6 guard averaged 3.5 points and 2.9 rebounds while playing 15.8 minutes per game and shooting 37 percent from the field and three-point range and 56 percent at the free throw line.

Adunk, are you inferring he's a perfect fit here? :D

Like Lonzo Ball, no player can claim to be a "guard" if they shoot below 70% from the line. Hell, freshman big man Rey Idowu shot 57%.

Nah, just saying that if our freshman true 5 can shoot better than you from the FT, you ain't no guard.

Tim was a 70 percent free throw shooter in high school. He had considerably fewer attempts at GCU which didn't help his percentage. I would love to have Tim, but I might be a little biased.

I think it might be better for us to quit focusing on traditional position names and more on what we expect of the player: ball handler, wing, big . . . I think maybe Tim would be a wing . . .

Noah Baumann, San Jose State, 6'5, Sit one, play 2. Shooter.
Ike Gassman wing type. Last season, he scored 10.8 points per game in 27 minutes while shooting 45% from three. He is included on this list for two reasons. First, we could use a shooter after Cope and Jefferson are gone (if they stay with the team). Second, we seem to have a pipeline now with SJSU. A few days ago Keith Fisher had exchanges with him on social media.

Post them as you see them.

His final 3 is a wide range. USC, Grand Canyon, and UC-Santa Barbara.

Nana Akenten, a 6'6 wing, has announced he is transferring from Nebraska. We offered him out of high school. He is originally from Bolingbrook and could definitely play the "hardship" card and be immediately eligible.

He played in 28 games with 2 starts, averaging 4.3 points, and 2.5 rebounds in 13 minutes per game. He was a 30% shooter from 3. He was suspended the final six games of the season for a Violation of team rules. Two years of eligibility remaining.

We've reached out along with a handful of other MVC schools. From what I've read, seems like a less talented MY. But, Muller did say he is looking for an immediate impact PG, a sit-out transfer, and then the best available for the third scholarship. I'm going to go ahead and pencil in Akenten with Derrick Cook.

Marcus Cohen- 6'4 SG. Tranfer from Mercer. Sit one play two. He has a connection to Rey.
Played in 29 games this season, starting 17, and averaged 21 minutes per game. He averaged 4.6 points, a steal, 2 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 2 turnovers. He was not a 3 point shooter at all. He attempted two 3-pointers all season and missed both. Must be more of a slasher type. Numbers don't look great.

Two names we are being mentioned with in the article below

Grad Transfer
Camron Justice, 6-3, 180, SG, IUPUI

Sit-out
Evan Gilyard, 5-10, 155, G, Soph., UTEP

https://watchstadium.com/news/ranki...college-basketball-this-offseason-04-22-2019/

Justice started out at Vanderbilt before transferring to IUPUI. He was nearly a 19 ppg player. Started all but one game for IUPUI. Seems it would be a very nice get, but he seems to be a more off the ball guy. He has Big 10 interest.

Gilyard is a Simeon kid who scored 13.6 ppg last season. He started 20 and played in 28. Also seems to be a very nice get. He's left handed and would have two years after a sit out year. Mostly MVC level interest.

Both shoot right around 35% from 3, and are over 77% for their careers from the FT line.

I'd take both, but neither satisfy the need at PG. Hopefully Horne is ready for some PT and can stay healthy.

My son played u14, u15 travel ball with Evan Gilyard. Great parents and a nice kid. He is a real good penetrator and passer. He is the type of player ISU desperately needed at point this past year. Fingers crossed on this one.
