Just win Baby!!

We'll lay a couple of eggs like we always do, Muller will be frustrated with effort and D. Those always cost us in someone's eyes. Adunk is right - gotta
win in St. Lou. At the end of the day, we win St. Lou, get something like a 12 seed - (no better please) and then you'll play the fat cat 5 seed from power conference who
really isn't that good. Then play another fat cat 4 seed, win and we're Sweet 16. The only route to take for the Birds that's realistic.
Disagree.

We haven't had this level of talent, depth, and experience in a long time. Given our schedule from top to bottom, we should have a loud voice in the at-large conversation. Anything less, including sneaking in with a MVC tourney title, would be underwhelming.

This is our year. Book it.

In 16/17 isu had great defense and ni offense. This year I'm afraid it will be opposite. Hopefully, Dan can get through to them after watching Loyola.

So Cal,

I'm all for Loud and Proud.......but the best we get is an 8 or 9 seed in Dance. You gotta
have Wichita like history to get a better seed on our first go-round in 20 years. Give me the 12
seed please. Winning an emotional/hard fought game in the NCAA is great but I like anyone doesn't
like the scenario of playing the best in Round 2.

I agree that we could b deep this year and it should b fun. As RealBird told me at the football game on Saturday -
we'll know after the tough non-con how good this team can b by season end.

Go Birds!

ISU’s next meaningful game is always the first Sunday in March. I will give them credit for their success in at least playing in the game that day. You gotta be in it to win it. We just need to close the deal. It’s really the only realistic path to the Dance.

I think if we aren't in talks for an at-large, we'll get a 12 or 13 depending on how the MVC performs out of conference.

But if we're in the RPI top 30 (or finish similarly in any of the new metric systems), I can't see us getting anything less than a 9 seed.

Always loud. Always proud. It's the only way. :)

My guess was 62. I knew they wouldn't rank isu in the top 50 like a lot if you thiught.

Well if it’s any consolation, barttorvik.com picked Illinois State #62
(One spot ahead of #63 Loyola)

I took a look at Torvik's page. He only has us listed as underdogs in two games on our slate @ UCF and @ Loyola. He has another four games listed as essentially as pick 'ems Georgia, @UNI, @ Valpo, and @Bradley. This is excluding the other Caymen Island games.

Early game @Belmont has me worried. This has the makings of a typical early season road dud for the Birds. If they show some composure on the road and win that game, I will start to buy into the hype. Hopefully starting the season at home will help in that regard.

Have to win 2 out of 3 against San Diego St, BYU and Central Florida. Go 1-2 or 0-3 in those games and we will need to win Valley Tournament.

I just don't see how they think Wichita is 46th.

Just like ISU is a little too low but understandable given program history Wichita is a little too highly ranked but it is understandable given program history.

Will be interesting to see who ends up ranked higher this season. I would put my money on ISU but we are only another Milik event, injury or bad grade away from having the applecart turned over again.
